About this Cook
I live outside of Edmonton Alberta, with my Husband, My Mother in law (unfortunately yes) and my 95 year old grandmother in law, this makes for an interesting and sometimes frustrating home life. food can be touchy issue with grandma preferring anything simple, (plain chicken and mashed potatoes is her idea of a good time) and my mother in law favors greasy take out chinese food. yup, you guessed it they are the furthest thing from foodies. so finding food that we can all like, including my husband who has a cooked vegetable aversion, and myself who loves to experiment in the kitchen can be troublesome.
My favorite things to cook
I cannot pick a favorite, I love so many different kinds of food, i love to experiment and try new things. I am a huge fan of fresh ingredients and I love to pick something up that I have never tried before and come up with a meal around it. Also I love cheese, any kind of cheese. feta or mizithra being two of my favorites.
My cooking tragedies
When I was quite young, junior high age, I made a cake. I had made a handful prior to this with out any help and they turned out just fine but this cake had other ideas. I had mixed up the batter, baked it and iced it (always with homemade icing) it looked amazing and i was proud of myself. My family had it after supper that night for desert. when my dad cut into leaked... yup, leaked. but being the youngest baby of the the family with three older brothers who loved me dearly they all 'manned-up' and ate the cake. with big smiles on their faces.....the next day I busted them throwing a soggy cake in the garbage, trying to hide it from me so as not to hurt my feelings. what great brothers.

Banana Banana Bread
good bread, dense but not crazy heavy, sweet but not overly, generally good. but nothing exceptional or unique about it. want a good basic banana bread? this is a great recipe for you (and that is not a bad thing.)

Sugar Cookie Icing
sturdy icing that looked great on cookies, but really just confirmed why I do not ice cookies, looks great but tastes like elf.

Molasses Cookies II
My husband loved these cookies, but said his grandma still haves them better! ( I really do not know how you could beat a tiny 96 year old woman though...)
