Strawberry Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: May 27, 2010
These were disappointing. To start, the cooking time was way off. They were burned on the outside and bottom and the inside was mushy and gooey. I think alot of the inside mushiness had to do with the juice from the strawberries. The flavor was alright, but nothing special. I honestly would prefer eating the store-bought strawberry muffins that come in a 60 cent envelope. Won't make again.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: May 25, 2010
Used 1 can of the french onion soup and subbed the plain beef broth with 1 can of beef consumme soup. I also had an envelope of au jus so I threw that in too. I left the butter out as well, didn't seem necessary. Very good!

Slow Cooker Swiss Steak

Reviewed: May 25, 2010
I think this is a good easy recipe for swiss steak, if you like it. I'm not a huge fan of swiss steak anyway, but I had one in my freezer that was given to me that I had to get rid of. I didn't bother with the browining of the meat, I just threw everything in and cooked. I did add green pepper as others suggested. Again if you're a swiss steak fan, this is a pretty good recipe compared to others I have tasted.

Lemon Yogurt Muffins

Reviewed: May 25, 2010
Pretty good. I added a tsp of vanilla and some poppy seeds for texture. Since the lemon yogurt I had was only 6 oz, I added an additional 2 oz of sour cream to make up the difference. I think next time, Ill add a little more lemon juice to the mixture as well. I decreased the oven temp to 375 for 18 minutes and that was perfect. The topping was a tad sour, so will also add a little more sugar next time as well. My only complaint is the glaze on top is really sticky, so if youre not eating all the muffins right away, they are hard to store. Overall good muffins and worth repeating.

Aaron's Chocolate Chunk Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: May 23, 2010
very easy and very soft moist cookie. So many ways of changing it around by using different pudding flavors/chips/nuts ect. I added butterscotch chips and pecans. I did have to cook about 13 minutes at 375. Made about 20 cookies and were gone the next day. Will definatly repeat.

Slow Cooker Italian Chicken Alfredo

Reviewed: May 6, 2010
It was good, but nothing sensational. The sauce ended up being much too thick and rich with the amount of cream cheese, so I had to add another can of soup with some milk to balance it out, which I'm sure has some effect on my results. Nobody in my family would eat the leftovers, so I doubt I will repeat.

Slow Cooker Venison Burritos

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2010
really very good, couldnt find the mexicorn, regular corn worked just fine. I did add a little salt and cumin toward the end. Great new way to get rid of the multiple "deer roasts" in the freezer!

Oyster Sauce Chicken Thighs

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2010
Thought I'd try because I love oysters and it sounded simple to make. I only added about 1/4 cup of the splenda, luckily I tasted it before adding more because it was already VERY SWEET. Something about the smell of this chicken dish cooking was just not right. My husband couldn't stand to be in the kitchen and named the dish "stinky chicken". Luckily it did taste better than it smelled, but not good enough to repeat.

Turned out pretty good, I'm still getting used to the fruit and meat together taste. The horseradish was a nice touch.

Chicken Gruyere with Sauteed Mushrooms

I thought this was really good. The gruyere cheese makes the dish. I love cheese, so I used more than indicated. Will definatly repeat

Butterscotch Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2010
Wow is all I can say! I did add some walnuts to the mix and cut down the milk by 1 cup due to running a little short on bread. Will definatly repeat!

Brussels Sprouts with Mushrooms

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2010
I had never tried brussel sprouts before. The combo of the mushrooms with them was good. I seasoned the mushrooms with garlic salt. I think if I make brussel sprouts again, it will be this way

Lamb Chops with Balsamic Reduction

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2010
Tasted like lamb from a restaraunt. Substituted finely chopped onions and garlic for shallots. The sauce took about 20 minutes to reduce. Nice that the sauce could be on the side, the kids didn't care for the sauce.

Salmon in Lemon-Dill Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2010
I really liked the taste of this, but the sauce turned out very oily. I think next time I will cut down on the butter. I tried to add more milk like another reviewer did when her sauce was oily, but the sauce just separated on me after doing that. I will try again with a dramatic decrease in the amount of butter and see if I get better results.

Baked Penne and Smoked Sausage

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2010
pretty good casserole. I went with some suggestions from a reviewer who talked about the "original recipe" Used cream of celery instead of mushroom. I precooked the noodles, decreased the milk to 1 1/2 cups and added chedder cheese along with some onion powder and seasoning salt to milk soup combo. Baked 350 for 20 min, then topped with the fried onions and colby jack cheese/mozz cheese.

This was OK, nothing fabulous. It was really quick and easy to make. It does make alot, we have 5 in our family and it could have fed 7-8 people.

Roast Beef with Coffee

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
The coffee does give the roast a different, but good flavor. It definatly needed something else which I couldn't put my finger on, so I added some salt and worchestershire. Turned out pretty good and the juices made a good gravy after thickening.

Curried Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2010
This turned out wonderful! I love my crockpot and love anything that can be cooked in there. I basically threw everything in together (excluding the oil, of course) I also cut the sugar in half as suggested. Shredded the chicken after cooked all day, sauce was soup like consistency. Served in soup bowls with scoop of rice. Will definatly make again
