About this Cook
I am married to a retired sailor in the US Navy. We have 5 children, plus his mother and father living here, so cooking small meals is never an option. I have been volunteering on wildlife refuges and with domestic animal shelters my entire life. That usually means making meals for each species every day. We live on a farm, so we have fresh eggs, milk from the dairy up the st, ect.
My favorite things to cook
Southern comfort foods, Tex-Mex, Italian pasta dishes, playing "what's in the pantry tonight"
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family's heritage is Russian, so my children are always begging me to make authentic Russian food. Our biggest tradition is passing down recipes and cooking tips to my children by cooking together.
My cooking triumphs
I think it would be my stuffed shells, beef stew, and enchiladas.
My cooking tragedies
When I was 13 I was making Spaghetti for the family. I put cinnamon into the sauce. Now I smell every spice before it goes in to make sure it works with the dish.

Chocolate Mint Cake Squares
I am giving this 3 stars because it was alot of work for an "okay" turn out. The favor was great but the candy hardened so much that the cake couldn't shine through. I don't know that I would define these as "rich" maybe more towards heavy. Thanks for the recipe submitter, and I will keep looking.

Amazingly Good Eggnog
Eggnog is one of the scarce few things I have always been intimidated by. I made this wed night before thanksgiving. When I woke up the next morning, the guys had drank it all. (before 7am) I had to rush to get another batch made for guests. (we kinda drank that one too) Suffice it to say, both ease of preperation and flavor, this is a keeper. I kept out the rum as our parents don't drink, you didn't miss it.
