About this Cook
Busy housewife from Reno, Nevada. I'm always looking to try new recipes and find ways to make them even healthier, yet keep all the flavor so my family will actually eat the food I cook. :-) I love to travel, though luckily our favorite places to visit aren't too far away like Bodega Bay in Californina, San Francisco, Virginia City and Lake Tahoe.
My favorite things to cook
I would love to cook more sweets, but am always on a diet it seems. LOL I have always been a big chicken nut, so if there's chicken in it, I usually like it. I'd honestly like to have more time cooking on the grill outdoors as I LOVE a good BBQ. My husband is one of the best BBQ'ers out there, but he's always so busy with work, those are few and far between.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't know that we have any certain traditions except for a few recipes we've passed down from generation to generation. Of course there's our holiday traditions as well. Gotta have that turkey and stuffing on Thanksgiving! :-)
My cooking triumphs
Can't classify anything as a triumph, boring I know, but I have been getting better at substituting healthier and lower sugar ingredients into some of the recipes I've found here.
My cooking tragedies
I've been pretty lucky there, except when I was a teenager experimenting with cooking. Luckily the oil fire was contained to the kitchen and was put out quickly! My parents didn't find out about it until I moved out of the house. LOL

Healthier Southern Peach Cobbler
My husband and I loved it! I used Splenda instead of the sugar and the Splenda brown sugar blend instead of the brown sugar to lower the calories even more. I also had to use frozen peaches, but don't listen to the conversion tables online as I bought much more than I needed. It sure makes dieting a little easier when you can have a treat like this! :-)
