About this Cook
I've been cooking since the age of 12. Both my Mom and Grandmom were great cooks. My Mom even taught my husband (boyfriend at the time) to cook.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking anything. And my husband even used to help me can, until my hands got so bad with arthritis that I had to give it up. I especially love to bake for the holidays, and then give to my extended family, friends and neighbors a wonderful treat.
My favorite family cooking traditions
MY most favorite would be our Christmas Eve celebration, when all the family gathers together for our traditional Christmas Eve meal. We start off with a blessing, and then the Oplatky w/honey (Christmas Wafer, from the church) Fish, scallops, shrimp, crab salad, coleslaw, thick creamed mushroom soup; cheese, potatoe, & cabbage pirohy. peas, beans & sauerkraut; fresh fruits & mixed nuts. A nice white wine and then of course the homemade deserts, yum yum yum....poppy & nut rolls, fruitcakes, and all those wonderfull cookies.
My cooking triumphs
the day I finally succeessfully made bread. And really not that long ago. Only a year ago.
My cooking tragedies
all the times I tried making homemade bread and failed. Which really disgusted me, because my Mom and both Grandmothers were wonderful bread makers. Even, my Dad was a great bread maker. And there's nothing I love more than warm bread straight out of the oven. Plus how the house smells when bread is baking.

How to Make Cream Biscuits
5 Star, these biscuits are wonderful. Their very easy to make and are light and fluffy. My husband raved over them. I didn't have self-rising flour, but looked it up in AllRecipies and made my own, which was very simple. Again these biscuits are FABULOUS once you try them you will never go back to whatever recipe you were using.
