About this Cook
I love to try new new recipes, especially for friends and family, but I don't like to make a test batch first, so sometimes my friends and family are happily delighted or sadly disappointed. Other family members would never consider trying out a new recipe on all of us! So I think they're happy I'm not in charge of all the holiday meals!
My favorite things to cook
Anything that sounds good to me that day that my picky sons or someone close to me might eat.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We don't really have any because my Mom wanted total control in her kitchen and nothing that anyone else did in her kitchen was as good as she did. It did not promote much of a teaching atmosphere. She was a great cook though....
My cooking triumphs
Anything that gets eaten with a smile by my sons and husband is a success in my mind, in my house, often it's Sloppy James' and David's Corn.
My cooking tragedies
Many, many years ago I tried to cook split pea soup in a slow cooker for my best friend Licia, who is a fabulous cook and hostess, she asked only once about some of the uncooked peas at the bottom of the bowl, this is only one of the errors she's encountered in my cooking, but she's still my friend after 20+ years.

Peanut Butter Cup Bars
Wow, these are great, and sooo sweet. I usually don't like it when people modify recipes, but I did it this time myself, by making a chocolate graham cracker crust, instead of using regular graham crackers (really because when my sons and I went to the grocery store, my sons were asking for so many things and I kept saying no, no ,no, because they had gotten things earlier in the week, so I was trying to get out of there as quickly as possible-thus no crackers) but I did have the chocolate ones at home. Well anyway, all the peanut butter lovers I had try this, loved it! A real winner. I also used loe fat peanut butter, but after everything else that we put in these I thought, hummm....?
