Cooking in Arkansas
About this Cook
Hi! My friends call me Tori. Right now I am organizing DogWish4Bear! A Benefit Concert to raise $10,000 to get my son Sidney "Bear" an Autism Service Dog. It's gonna be a huge event here in Malvern, Arkansas with 7 musical acts, GFCF Food, and a Silent Aution February 4th, 2012 from 3pm-9pm at Malvern Elementary School 1807 W. Moline St in Malvern.
My favorite things to cook
I love chocolate and between myself and my chocoholic daughter Maxine, we have to look high and low for great ways to satisfy our cravings! I also have a son on the Autism spectrum who needs a GFCF diet, so cooking is pretty interesting at my house. I take it all in stride and use it as an excuse to become an even better well rounded cook.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I never follow a recipe exactly, I always have to make it my own. But here's a funny story.
My cooking triumphs
I got married at 17 and had never learned to cook any of the traditional foods yet. When I decided to make my first turkey with all the trimmings, I barely even knew what the "trimmings" were! No money for cookbooks, and I even went to the stores to try to just read the recipes, but all the cookbooks were sealed! (This was way before the internet)So I ended up in the spice aisle, cracking open the spice jars and smelling them till I found what I needed for my stuffing. Long story short the stuffing was even better than mom's maybe you should nickname me "Ratatouille"- I really would like to learn that recipe...

Pickled Pepper and Onion Relish
I am preparing this just to serve as a side for a hot dog grill party, I was wondering if I still need to heat it for 30 minutes even though I'm not canning it, or if it will be fine to just serve it?
