About this Cook
I am becoming a fairly good cook. I would love to cook the way my mother cooked. I am interested in starting my own small family restaurant.
My favorite things to cook
Soups and salads. I enjoy cooking chicken on the grill.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Oyster stuffing, banana nut bread and cakes.
My cooking triumphs
Getting all the foods for a thanksgiving feast on the table at the same time.
My cooking tragedies
Started smoking a turkey at midnight. It was extremely cold and the smoker wouldn't come up to temperature. I kept adding more and more charcoal and wood chips. I fell asleep, woke up to the smoker being over 500 degrees. I opened up the smoker and found a 22 lb. bird that looked like a black basketball. When I touched it with a fork, it hissed at me and deflated like a balloon losing air. Bought a fresh bird that morning and baked in the oven. Thanksgiving saved.

Herb Roasted Pork
Fabulous! I got nothing but raves with this dish. Only changes for me were, I used balsalmic vinegar (it is what I had on hand). I doubled the sauce (smart move as the sauce was devoured). I also used my rotisserie on my gas grill and cooked about 20 minutes per pound. Thanks for a great recipe.

Jen's Fresh and Spicy Salsa
I give this a 5 stars rating. It is exceptionally delicious. I did use chopped garlic instead of powder. The salsa was very juicy, which could have been corrected by draining the tomatoes for a bit. I personally enjoyed it the way it was. My batch made 3 cups. What is great about this is that there are only 210 calories for the entire 3 cups. Thanks for a great recipe.

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes
This is a fabulous recipe. It is excellent as a side dish and with a side salad, would make an excellent meal. I will be making this quite often. Thanks for this recipe.
