Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2014
This is a great base recipe..and makes the house smell insanely good. As others have said, I used chicken stock instead of water. Seasoned the chicken pretty heavily with a garlic herb blend and some cayenne pepper. Cooked on high for first two hours, shredded the chicken at about five and a hours in, which was when I also added the biscuits - just one can of eight. Left it all on low until we ate and it was perfectly cooked..so that was probably another hour and a half. Served with green peas. Would be ideal to add veggies to the pot but I tell ya..there wasn't much room, thought it was going to overflow when I added the biscuits. Anyway, very good comforting meal!

Dinah's Baked Scallops

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2014
Delightful meal. Used chicken n biscuit crackers since that's what we had open. Added garlic to the butter and a little cayenne and some parm to the dry mix. We didn't have any lemon and it needed it..will be making this one again for sure. Thx!

Swiss Chicken Casserole II

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2013
Had to add quite a bit to it and it was still bland to me; hubby and teenager loved it. Very easy and satisfying so I'll make again. I added: sliced onoin to bottom of pan, seasoned chicken with dry mustard, paprika, s&p, garlic, and added a container of savory garlic cream cheese sauce to soup mix. Will go even bolder on seasoning next time. Love to have these kind of base recipes in the rotation - thanks!

CINfully Delicious Chocolate Cupcakes

Great combination; I tweaked this a bit and added 1 box of chocolate pudding, 1/2 cup of sour cream, and 1t of mexican chilli powder. Frosted with cinammon buttercream. Delightful.

Pumpkin Ginger Cupcakes

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2012
Fall fabulous cupcakes! I used vanilla pudding only because I didn't have butterscotch... will use it next time; I'll be making these again and again through Thanksgiving, I'm sure. Topped them with homemade cinammon buttercream frosting. They were a HUGE hit. Thanks!

Grandma's Gingersnap Cookies

Excellent cookie... made pretty much as directed. Did add a little allspice, maybe a teaspoon and then rolled just in white sugar rather than cin-sugar. Came out perfect.

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2012
These are outta hand. So delightfully delicious. Sad thing is I may never have em the same again because I threw in quite a variety when cleaning out my baking cabinet. So, made these per recipe with the following changes - used all brown sugar just to finish off a bag.. no other reason. Added a little extra peanut butter per reviews, threw in what was left of milk choco chips and mini semi sweet chips plus I had some mini reeses peices that I'd found at a local candy shop - I accidently poured too many of those in, so the cookies are quite full of goodies! Did fridge the dough so it was cold and firmer when I worked with it. Baked about 12-14 mins on 350. They are chewy as promised!

Lemon Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2012
Brilliant! These were a little more work than your average cupcake, but then again, this ain't your average cupcake. Very pleased with how these turned out. I have been 'shopping' for just the right recipe for my mom's 70th b-day cakes.. this is it. I made them completely per recipe; they are light, airy and refreshing. I sprinkled a little lemon zest on top of each...may try to find some yellow sprinkles or lemonhead candies for next batch. These are perfect for summer. Baked up in a little less time than indicated...ovens vary so just keep an eye on your first pan. Thanks for sharing this one! Update - made them again today for the party tomorrow. Few tips - I made all mini c-cakes because its a luncheon party and we're having like finger sandwiches and stuff, so they took a little less time to bake and definitely turned heat down to about 350. Also, because I won't be able to keep them refrigerated, I went with a different icing - just a lemon buttercream. Do like the one on the recipe better for taste, but the b.c. will be easier to decorate with. These will be a hit tomorrow, thanks agian.

Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2012
Good cookie, just wouldn't say best ever. Made these per recipe; put the dough in fridge for a bit before spooning onto cookie sheet, and in between batches - this made the bake time closer to 12 minutes. They came out crispy on the outside and buttery soft on the inside. I better go and try another just to confirm my review ;-) Thanks for the recipe!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2012
We had this tonight - it was terrific and super easy. I made it per recipe, though I only had diet rootbeer in the house, which didn't seem to make a difference. I drained the liquid, shredded the meat - it was like buttah - (used a pork loin roast) after nearly 7 hours on low, then let it sit in the bbq sauce on warm for about an hour. Served it with sauce on the side - we used and love Stubbs Original BBQ sauce. Will definitely make this easy peasy crowd pleaser again!

David's Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2011
Thank you David! I made this yesterday for my mom's bday..she always wants angel food, which I made with 12 egg whites, then she confessed to my daughter that yellow cake is really her favorite..whatever! I used the leftover yolks for this and it was perfect. Followed the recipe exactly as written and it truly is moist and delicious!

Joanne's Super Hero Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2011
A definite keeper! Thanks so much for the recipe. I only had limes, so used those instead of lemons. Couldn't find tarragon vinegar at my grocery, so used this ital. seasoned red wine vinegar. I doubled it for a crowd, and maybe had too much dressing but the sandwiches were still a big hit and so easy.. we'll be making this recipe again and again.

Easy Ice Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2011
This was fantabulous... made it for a team of 15-year old basketball players, celebrating the end of their season yesterday and it was completely gobbled up. I did use hot fudge sauce and caramel sauce and chopped up heath bar between the layers and on the top. It was a great, low maintenance way to make ice cream cake. Thanks for the recipe!!

Seven Layer Salad

Reviewed: May 30, 2010
This was deeeelish.. took it to a Memorial day cookout last night; big hit! I started with bib lettuce, then cauliflower florets, green onion, diced tomatos, bacon, cheddar cheese, and just before serving, I topped it with diced advocado. We used a bottled dressing...we were running late. It was really sooo good. Thanks!

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: May 12, 2010
I made this last night..and today its featured on the home page. Weird. This was a huge hit at my house. I did half olive oil and half butter, only because we were down to our last stick of butter. Baked (5) thighs about 40 minutes, then broiled on each side for 5 minutes. Next time I think I'll marinate them a bit and do it on the grill..and will definitely make more! It was rainy and cold here, so I served this with a cream of potato soup and roasted broccoli. Fantastic meal. Thank you!!!

Grilled Swordfish with Rosemary

Reviewed: May 7, 2010
I want to give it one star, but don't think that's fair as I am thinking I just must not like swordfish. We eat a lot of fish in this house, but this was my first attempt at swordfish. I marinated it in the morning prior to leaving for work, so it had a good 8 hours and was still very bland to me.

Karyn's Cream of Crab Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2010
Exceptional! We are Baltimore people and my daughter and I try cream of crab at restaurants all over the place. Our favorite WAS from a place called Legal Spirits in Easton - we liked this one better! I made it exactly per recipe and it was perfection. Don't be cheap - buy the lump! It's so worth it. Thanks so much for posting this recipe!
