Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2012
I made the suggestions of other reviewers and this was perfect. I gave it 4 stars since I believe the changes were necessary. 1c balsamic, 1c red wine, 1tbs brown sugar and reduced. I broiled my steak and then put Gorgonzola on top, melted, and spooned the glaze on that.

Sandy's Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2012
Very good. Needed the icing though. The cake is dense and flavorful but not as chocolatey as I had hoped for on its own. With the icing it was a perfect combination.

Potato Rosemary Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2012
Excellent. I used a little more rosemary than suggested and because of my bread machine I need to add more water. Remember to watch the first part of the dough cycle to ensure the dough forms into a ball, if it is too dry add a little water mixed with olive oil. My bread machine required an additional 2tbs olive oil and 1/2 cup of water.

Grandma Gudgel's Black Bottom Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2012
These were very good, especially after the refrigeration, however they require cupcake liners because they are very moist and a little too crumbly.

Popularity Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2011
Very easy and everyone at the cookie swap loved them. You definitely need a pan with edges, since it will expand in the oven. The Pam sprayed on the foil before baking made everything very easy to come off.

Spicy Basil Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
This was great but a little too spicy for my taste. Next time I would omit the chilli oil

This was a huge hit in my house. I used double the peanut butter.

Chicken Puffs

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2010
My only suggestion would be to shred the chicken and put in less cream cheese mixture, since it was very messy, and maybe a some pepper to kick it up a little since it was a little bland. My husband downed half of these and then took the rest for lunch the next day. So they were obviously very good.

Cousin David's Slow Cooker Brisket

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2010
This was good but a little too ketcup smelling, half way through cooking I tried to salvage it with Worcestershire sauce, and ground pepper and onion/garlic powder. The sauce was a little oily for my taste as well.

Grilled Portobello Mushrooms

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
This was very good, I only gave it four stars because I felt like it was missing something, like chopped up tomatoes and fresh mozzarella

Zippy Summer Shrimp

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2010
Be careful, if your skillet is too hot and you add the spices you are in for a surprise! This was very good, and just the right amount of flavor. Definitely shell all the shrimp, because when its greased and coated with spices it makes for a messy eating if you do not.

Very good. A little salty for our taste, so that is why I gave it four instead of five stars

Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breasts

This was really good and easy, but it took a lot longer to bake and was very greasy. I would probably use turkey bacon next time

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2009
I followed the recipe to a T. I baked a batch of these for a cookie swap at work, and I had none left at the end of the day and people were asking for the recipe. If you use smaller cookie cutouts, its enough for 2.5 dozen cookies, they don't expand that much, but I kept it to 6 gingerbread people per cookie sheet. They were a little crispy, because I didn't make them as thick, but were still very good.

Simply Sensational Truffles

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
A little too rich, you need a glass of eggnog or milk with these. It was extremely easy to do, a little messy though. I sprinkled them with cocoa powder for extra decoration and flavor. I brought them to work, and people were impressed with my mad baking skills (I didn't tell them how easy it was!).

Soft Christmas Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
My husband really liked them and was sad when I was sharing them. He said regular sugar cookies were nothing special but these are not regular sugar cookies and I need to make them again. They retained their shape, and were easy to decorate, and very soft. I took them out of the oven at exactly 8minutes, they didn't look done, but did after the cooling period. They were even soft the next day! I accidentally used a little more vanilla (+1/4tsp), and it went over very well.
