Easy OREO Truffles

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2014
The balls are good but I didn't give it a 5 star because I find it simply taste like an "Oreo"!! Nothing special. I used the exact ingredients stated in the recipe. I did the following and they were not messy at all and perfect in appearance. 1.) I used my food processor to chop the oreos then I added the Cream cheese to the food processor. I left it on chop until all of the oreos were completely mixed with the cream cheese. 2) Using a 1 tbsp measuring spoon, I scooped a heaping spoonful of mixture (packing it against the side of the bowl) then popped it out on the edge of the ball. I placed them on a tray covered in wax paper. I then stuck toothpicks in them to allow me to hold it while dipping. 3 )I put them in the freezer for about 45 minutes. 4) After freezing, melt chocolate in a dish deep enough to cover the ball when dipped. I used a measuring cup. Melt chocolate only until smooth (in attempt to keep the temperature as low as possible). 5) ONLY remove a few balls at a time. Use toothpick to dip into chocolate. Place on a tray. 6) Sprinkle crushed oreos on top while chocolate is still soft (bc they will not stick later). 7) Once balls have hardened, gently pull out toothpicks. Suggestion: Do not leave balls on counter too long. If you keep them i the refrigerator, they will hold and remain hard enough to eat without messy fingers!!! ENJOY!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2013
I used a 3.5 pound chuck roast (because it is what the store had left the day before thanksgiving) and added 1 small sweet yellow onion. I chopped the onion in rings and layered some on the bottom of the pot and the rest on top of the roast. I seasoned it with salt, pepper, garlic powder and cayenne pepper. I also cut slits in the roast and stuffed it with garlic. Put it in the crock pot around 10pm on low/10 hours. When I checked it at 7am, it was so tender and made a beautiful gravy. Being from Louisiana, brown gravy is important for white rice (lol). We did not have to use a knife to cut the roast - just pulled it apart with a fork to serve.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2013
I am always determined to try new recipes at Holidays because i hate serving the same thing year-after-year. This one was FANTASTIC. It is simple and easy to throw together as is written. Just to add some Cajun flare to it next time, I will probably add chopped onion, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers and maybe sprinkle some cheese. But it is great without it.

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2013
I had to try a new Sweet Potato casserole. I made this recipe for the first time at Thansgiving dinner; therefore, I had to use canned potatoes rather than fresh (too many things to do within a few hours). I combined 2 40 oz cans of Sweet Potatoes with the other ingredients and blended until smooth. I considered increasing the sugar and butter because I did have approx 1 additional cup of potatoes than what the recipe called for - but I did not because we had many other "sweet" casseroles/deserts. My family loved it. I personally think sweetness turned out perfect but you could increase the sugar slightly if you like sweeter foods. I may try a dash of cinnamon next time simply because all our traditional family yam recipes include cinnamon and sugar (and are fantastic)!!

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Reviewed: May 27, 2010
I made half the recipe (because I wasn't sure if my kids would eat it) and I had 2 full casserole dishes. Needless to say, the pans were empty. If you can fix up a cabbage dish that a 2 year old and 17 year old will eat, then it must be GOOD!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
I am hesitant to click a star because it is based on preference. I prefer sweet over tart any day....so, this pie was a bit too tart for me. I have made this pie in the past using the red apples and loved it so much that I continued to make it over the years. However, against my better judgement, I tried using the Granny Apples as stated in the recipe. I was disappointed. It was definitely a "tart" pie. If you like sweet better, just sub red apples and you will love it as much as i do.

Fluffy French Toast

We enjoyed the recipe but I didn't find it any better than my usual recipe. I didn't get that WOW factor that I expected from such great reviews. The recipe made 10 slices
