About this Cook
I'm a mom of three, former O.R. Scrub Nurse, and about to be newly re-married, after many years. My husband to be is a professional racer, and I am a professional musician/singer, with two recorded CDs and one in the works. I do women's ministry and singing/speaking engagements all over the country. I enjoy my grown children, and my two cats.
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE to use my slow-cooker. Found many GREAT recipes in a slow cooker cookbook, and I just can't try them fast enough. I also love to bake desserts, anything from simple to complicated. I especially love anything chocolate. I really like chicken, so I tend to use it in a lot of recipes, and am developing a new fondness for pork, as well. Wish I were more confident w/ seafood/fish. I usually order that when we go out. LOL. I especially love Italian food. Can't go wrong there!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Lots of different recipes at Christmas, especially cookies....Scotch Shortbread is a MUST at Christmas-time in our house. And on Thanksgiving, squash recipes are big ... like to try a new one each year.
My cooking triumphs
I've made some pretty awesome soups, and can never re-create them, as they're usually just a product of whatever's leftover in the fridge. Never the same combination twice. LOL! I've also made some fantastic desserts, just by experimenting or 'substituting' this or that. Cooking is an art ... you have to take some chances now and then, and I'm usually quite pleased with the outcome.
My cooking tragedies
Usually has something to do w/ a broken dish wherein I lose my entire recipe, i.e., a stoneware dish that CRACKED right up the middle after the recipe was baked and was set out on the table... heard that awful, sickening fissure begin, and then WATCHED it work its way across my stoneware baker, and the entire dish was ruined.
