Soft Whole Wheat Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
We listened to "1," by The Beatles while we baked up these a here Whole Wheat treats! We 1/4 butter & 1/4 homemade applesauce instead of 1/2 cup butter flavored shortnin'. We substituted 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1/8 tsp all spice & a dash of ginger for 1 tsp apple spice. We didn't use m&m's. Grazie!! This site has given us a new cooking awakening!!

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
We listened to some Bobby"Blue"Bland live in 2005 when we cooked up these pancakes that flapped our flapjacks!! Our customizations: We used whole wheat flour. We made a blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry compote and drained it before adding it to the batter. These flapjacks really rise up and fly! We guessed it was the baking powder. We added a few drops of vanilla extract to the batter. We poured what was left of the compote over the pancakes and then spooned some light whipped cream on top. These flapjacks put IHOP and Bob Evans to shame! Thank you for this great recipe!! Yeaaaah!!

Salsa Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
Awww yeah! This recipe puts the roll in the casserole!! Owww! This recipe will definitely be worked into the rotation!! Grazie!! ~Here are some slight adjustments we gave a whirl: We satuee'd the chicken with green onions and chili powder, added one can of cream of mushroom soup, omitted the cream of chicken soup and cheese, used cowboy caviar instead of salsa, added black olives, cumin, and jalapenos. Next time we want to use salsa and black beans. Bon Appetit!

Spicy Bean Salsa

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
This was really great! I made this the night before Thanksgiving and the next day it was perfect. I fixed it with lower fat dressing though and still everyone thought it was really tasty. I will make this again. It does make quite a bit. More than your average salsa jar. My husband said it reminds him of poor man's caviar.

Garbanzo Bean Chocolate Cake (Gluten Free!)

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
*~The Wifey whooped this up for me for my birthday and it was grrrrrrrrrrrreat!! When I first saw 'garbonzo,' I thought it would be a flop but instead it was the tops!! Yummm! The gonzo garbonzos gave the cake a nutty flavor. I ate my pieces covered in whipped cream. Next time we're going to make two cakes, one dark chocolate and one peanut butter, then layer the cakes and slap some fudge frosting all over it. Oh yeah, it'll be tops!! Like John Lee Hooker said,"Now we COOKIN!!! Thank you!!!~ We used dark chocolate instead of semisweet chocolate chips and 2 cups cooked gonzo beans instead of the can.*

Hamburger Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
My hubby and I whipped this recipe up last night and it was SCRUMPTIOUS!! We substituted frozen peas for green be. We always use ground turkey when a recipe calls for ground beef. Next go round, we're going to use mushrooms and fresh, organic green beans for this recipe. A mighty thanks to the author of this recipe and also the folks who reviewed it and made suggestions!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
The Best! This was my first time baking a pie and it turned out perfect. I added cinnamon and vanilla. I used a store bought crust for the bottom. I made the top lattice dough last night. Rolled it out today and used a pizza cutter to made long strips. I baked it for 1hr at 350*. My husband and I had a piece of it and couldn't stop saying, "Mmmmmmm" the whole time. Loved it!!
