Scones

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2012
I'm giving this 5 stars because its a great base recipe, and that's what makes it great, people can be creative with it. Since I've never made scones before I tested this out with just half the recipe. It made 10 big scones, I don't know how the full recipe could only make 8. I subbed 1/3 the flour with wheat & the milk with soy milk. I didn't bother rolling out the dough, I just grabbed handfuls and dropped them on my pan. I also added cut strawberries & a handful of chocolate chips. My scones turned out amazing, though they needed18-20 minutes to cook. Next time I'm going to try using apple sauce instead of butter to cut down on calories and fat.

Original NESTLE® TOLL HOUSE® Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
I've tried two other chocolate chip cookie recipes with poor results so this was my last try at cookies. This recipe turned out good though! I made 4 dozen for a Christmas slumber party for my 9 nieces and nephews, half with dark and white chocolate and half with M&Ms. They were gone within like 3 hours. The only thing I left out were the nuts.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2011
I followed this recipe exactly but with M&Ms instead of chocolate chips and no nuts. All I can taste is the flour. These are only edible if you get some M&Ms in each bite. Will not be trying this recipe again.

Mini Cheesecakes

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
I made these for the 4th of July and everyone loved them. I used graham cracker crust and added some whipped cream to the filling but everything else was the same. I put whipped cream and strawberries on top and they were very good. I'll make them again soon.

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
This was soooooooo good! I made a graham cracker crust just because I prefer it. I used raspberry jam with seeds and it was fine. For the glaze on top I mixed the juice from a bag of thawed frozen raspberry with more jam, I will do this for the middle next time as well as I liked a bit of tartness more than just the sweet jam alone. I baked it for 50 minutes in a waterbath with foil & left it in the oven to cool a few hours, no cracks. I'm going to make this again soon!

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: May 30, 2010
This made 6 regular size muffins. I used rice milk instead of regular, and cinnamon instead of nutmeg. Even without the topping these are good (slightly bland but not without some flavor), but I only put the butter and sugar/cinnamon on the top and it was great. I will certainly make this again and try the basic recipe with fruit because its so simple.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
This was my first time making muffins, and this recipe turned out really good. As someone else suggested I used apple sauce instead of oil and soy milk instead of reg. milk. The apple sauce + the cinnamon in the topping gave it an apple flavor which was good but if you just want blueberry I'd use the oil. I also used brown suger in the topping rather then white and frozen blueberries. This made 12 regular sized muffins, I cooked them 18 minutes at 375. I was careful not to over mix the batter and they puffed up really great while cooking. These were so good, I'm really pleased & I'll be making these and other variations again soon.

Spinach and Mushroom Quesadillas

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
I didn't have mushrooms or garlic so I just did tomatos and onion with some garlic powder. Also I didn't use butter or vegetable oil as there isn't really any need for it. I used frozen spinach and just put 1/3 cup in the pan with a little bit of chopped onion and cooked that for 4-5 minutes. This was perfect for 2 tortilla's folded in half. And I skipped the oven step and just put the cheese & spinach mix on together. Topped with sour cream and salsa, it was a great meal, good comfort food on a rainy day.

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I made these cookies exactly how the recipe said, except I used vanilla instead of brandy, and they tasted really bland. I never met a cookie I didn't like but these could put me to sleep. The cranberry and chocolate parts were good but the dough was boring and almost tasteless. I melted the butter before mixing it with the sugar and the cookies spread really well so I didn't have a problem with lumpy cookies. I love the cranberry/white chocolate combo but I'm going to look for another recipe as this one didn't do anything for me.

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
This was so easy to make, although I did have a hard time shaping the dough but thats my fault. I made breadsticks too but they were a little bland. The crust is great with the pizza toppings with it but it could use a little something etxra. Overall great recipe, I look forward to using it again and again.

The Best Unbaked Cherry Cheesecake Ever

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
This was my first time making cheesecake & it turned out really good. I used 12oz of cream cheese & 1/3 cup sugar because other reviews said it wasn't thick enough and was too sweet and my cheesecake turned out perfect. I left it in the fridge 6 hours and didn't have a problem with it being too soft. I will definitely use this recipe again & will probably make it a few times during the holidays.
