About this Cook
Hi there! My mom is a fantastic cook; somehow she managed to prepare something amazing every day, despite working all day. Me, I come home from work and if I don't have something in mind and have all the ingredients, I'm at a loss. I don't know how to just go into a kitchen and cook something. I need recipes, which is why I love allrecipes so much! We have tried and reviewed many recipes here, and I really appreciate the reviews... make sure you review the recipes you use!
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook dinner. My mom has an extremely easy Baked Ziti recipe that I love to make.
My favorite family cooking traditions
None as of yet!
My cooking triumphs
Two weeks after we got married, my husband and I had his family over for Thanksgiving dinner. That's right--two weeks--major family meal. I cooked a ham; not only was this my first Thanksgiving, but also my first time cooking a ham. Despite cooking for an army when only five were eating, everything turned out wonderfully!
My cooking tragedies
Well, I haven't set a kitchen on fire... yet.

This was very easy to make, but not a big hit in our house. BAJ complained the whole time about the beef, but he did eat his entire serving. I just didn't like it, but I'm not such a great test case these days. I made a few substitutions... I used a cubanelle pepper instead of a bell. I omitted the pepperoni, and used spaghetti sauce instead of pizza sauce. There's a picture on allrecipes, and their creation looks very different from mine... perhaps a slice of ham might have changed the texture/flavor instead of the diced ham I used. I also folded my dough in half, instead of creating a log like a typical stromboli... this made it VERY difficult to cut. I also found that this got overcooked, and came very close to burning after 20 minutes at the recommended temperature. Soo, maybe I'll make a stromboli this way again, but not with this particular filling.

Chili Rellenos Casserole
This was ok, but the flavor isn't for us. I'll admit to making the changes suggested (I used a 5 oz can of evap milk and no additional milk, an additional egg and used enchilada sauce instead of tomato sauce), but it may have been that I used chopped chiles that was really the problem. Thanks for something new to try!

Pleasant Pork Chops
We liked this, and found it to be very tasty. It took a really long time to make, due to the hour of cooking time. I'm curious how this would come out if done in the crock pot. Thanks for the recipe!
