I'm a 21 year old college student. I've been cooking since I was a child (I baked my first batch of cookies on my own at about 9-11 years of age), but never had the kitchen all to myself until I moved out to go to school. The sky's the limit right now and I'm building a steady collection of spices. I have way more spices than the average college student should...
My favorite things to cook
I love all kinds of baking, but one of my all-time favourite things to do in the kitchen is perfecting the recipe for fried chicken. The sound of battered chicken frying is the best sound on Earth.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is Thai/Lao, and we always try to use fish sauce, soy sauce, sugar, oyster sauce, and coriander whenever possible. I cannot eat eggs at breakfast without soy sauce and ground black pepper.
My cooking triumphs
Making all of Thanksgiving dinner (turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, and Oreo cream cheese cake for dessert) last year all by myself in my second year of college. My family does not celebrate Thanksgiving at all, and I had to rely on recipes I found on the Internet to help me through. It was so stressful but very rewarding in the end.
My cooking tragedies
I'm an extremely clumsy person. There are too many tragedies to list, but practice makes perfect.

Best Tuna Casserole
This was my first time eating tuna casserole, let alone making it. I didn't know what to expect -- onion? Cream of mushroom soup? Cheddar cheese? All mixed together with canned tuna? It all sounded less-than-appealing to me. But boy, was I wrong. This has an undeniable hearty, homey, comfort food charm to it. I halved the ingredients because I didn't have many mouths to feed, but I did heed the advice of other reviewers and added an extra can of soup and half a can of tuna. I also used a medley of frozen peas, carrots, and corn instead of green peas. Yum!
