A friend asked me today what I cooked for breakfast, which was pancakes, and then reminded me about the first time I made bacon and eggs on a skillet a few weeks ago. I wasn't sure how "cooked" the egg was supposed to be. I made both sides of the yoke a light brown but it was still gooey in the… MORE

Before I moved out of my parents' house and into my own apartment near the city, I had never really cooked anything before. I really thought I would be on a starvation diet of sandwiches, toast, and microwave dinners. Luckily, I decided to try cooking something one night. It turned out pretty… MORE

About Me
Before I moved out and started living on my own, I had never cooked in my life. Now I cook three meals a day for myself (when I can) and enjoy every minute of it. Wouldn't be having as much fun, or learning so much, without this website!
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking with pasta but I'm trying to learn more about Italian and Chinese (my favorite things to eat when I'm out). I am also trying to branch out to other types of foods just to keep some variety.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My paternal grandmother was an amazing cook and my aunt is pretty good too. I'm trying to learn from my aunt now. My mom doesn't cook much anymore and never volunteered to teach me. That's why I'm 24 and only now learning to cook.
My cooking triumphs
My biggest triumph so far is not burning the building down while cooking... yet.
My cooking tragedies
Not too many so far. Worst is a 3rd degree burn on my little finger by my knuckle... I was trying to flip bacon and that part of my hand touched the skillet. It's been a week and I still have a thin, inch long burn which will probably become a scar.
