About this Cook
Enjoying the newlywed life, cooking yummies for my hubby!
My favorite things to cook
Baking yummy treats, getting creative with quick breads, comforting tummies with some down-home Southern dishes, and living la vie en rose with French cuisine.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is from Louisiana, so, of course, I love cooking gumbo!
My cooking triumphs
I recently made a king cake from scratch! Not only did it taste like the real thing from New Orleans, but it looked just like one, as well!
My cooking tragedies
My first time making brownies from scratch when I was 12 years old - I accidentally left out the baking powder. They were wafer-thin and hard as rocks!

Easy Pot Roast
My husband and I love this recipe! It is his absolute favorite. I do cook it in the crock pot, so it's nice and tender after about 8 hours on low. I took the advice of other raters and used a can of beef broth. I also seasoned the meat with some cajun seasoning (Tony Chachere's is my favorite) before placing it in the crock pot. I add the veggies halfway through the cooking time, just so they don't get mushy and overcooked. The "gravy" it makes is good over rice or mashed potatoes. The meat is just so tender and this recipe is so easy!

Apple Stuffed Chicken Breast
This is a great recipe! My husband and I love it! The only change I'm going to make next time is, instead of pounding and rolling up the chicken breast, I'm going to butterfly them and stuff them. The apple chunks made it difficult to roll and I had to use way too many toothpicks to keep them together. But, paired with a sweet potato or a corn casserole, this is a perfect, healthy fall dish! It's a good base recipe, too. Feel free to season it however you wish!
