Stir-Fried Vegetables

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2009
Easy and delicious! I used fresh ginger and a few more garlic cloves and eliminated the water because I thought it had enough liquid in the beginning. Also, I added mushrooms:) Mushrooms add Umami (Japanese), meaning a tasty flavor!

Fresh Asparagus and Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
This is a pretty good recipe, except it's missing something that would make it 5 stars, maybe some mushrooms or some other spice; I'm not sure since I am just starting out. I added some garlic and used fat-free sour cream, but it still needs more. My husband liked it, and he doesn't usually like asparagus!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2010
The best cornbread ever! I tried the recipe as is (oh but I used light brown sugar instead of white) and everyone loved it. The second time around, I decreased the sugar to 1/2 cup but it wasn't quite as delicious to me, but everyone still loved it!

My husband loved it, but I thought it was a tad bland and next time I would use parm instead of romano.

Chocolate Truffle Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
Decadent! Most people can only eat one, but I can definitely go for two with milk. :) My best friend said it was like a mini chocolate lava cake that would be perfect hot with ice cream! This has to be my favorite cookie of all time since I'm a chocolate lover! I refrigerated them for a few days. They were hard to scoop out, but I used an ice cream scooper, rolled them into 1.5 in. balls and cooked them for about 12 minutes. Fabulous!!

Apple Glazed Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
I doubled the recipe and should have tripled it since it went so quickly and I like my dishes to last at least three days with a family of four. People were eating it twice a day! I LOVED the apple gravy and added a lot more apples like people suggested. I only needed half the glaze the recipe required, so I saved the rest for next time around. I'm making it again this week!

Roasted Butternut Squash and Garlic Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
Creamy and delicious! I made three layers and used a few more noodles. I also added some fresh spinach to one of the layers, some mozzerella to all layers and on top. SOoooo good! Next time, I will add more garlic since I'm a garlic freak! My 4 year old even liked it (I made 1/4 of it without the spinach for her).

So much better than store-bought garlic bread (of course)! Next time, I will roast the garlic a bit longer to make it creamier, though.

Pear Honey Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
All I can say is WOW! The pears make this dish truly special, in fact, I would add twice as many next time! It's still warm, so I'm super psyched to see the fam's reaction on Thanksgiving!

Baked Potato Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
As is, it's very bland because the sour cream is overwhelming the recipe. After tasting, I added garlic salt & onion powder. I also added a ton of scallions before the powders, but they didn't do much. I didn't want to use ranch dressing mix because it has a ton of MSG in it. I wish it was MSG-free because I just couldn't get the right mix of garlic & onion powders and salt. My husband enjoyed it, but he loves sour cream. Next time, I would add more bacon (I used homemade bacon bits). Guests at Thanksgiving left a lot on their plates and didn't mention it, so I'd say it was a bust!

Herman Reunion Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
This was excellent! And I am never that crazy about cheese balls, but decided to try it for Thanksgiving because I know it's an easy crowd pleaser. Well, was I absolutely pleased too! I scaled back to 2 pckgs of cream cheese, kept the worcestershire amt. the same, left out the hot sauce & parsley, and added 1 tsp. of garlic. Oh, I also added a little over a half stick of soft butter. I didn't freeze it, just put it in the fridge over night. Plus, I just mixed it by hand really well since it was so thick that I was afraid it wouldn't do well in my blender. I made the turkey feather version by sticking whole pecans into it like feathers & bistro-style pepperidge farm crackers for the tail feathers. My husband carved turkey heads out of cheddar cheese...we made two balls and they were absolutely adorable! My mother-in-law insisted on taking some pics before we devoured them! I will always make these for Thanksgiving!

Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
This was sooooo scrumdillyumcious! My husband and 4 year old LOVED it, especially the sugary part :P Aurora kept saying, "It's sooooo soft!" as she mooshed it between her fingers. haha The first layer of batter was really thin, so I wasn't able to have much of a top layer of batter. I put almost all the topping on, then glopped about a dozen balls of batter on top, then put the remainder of the sugar mixture on top. I also drizzled a little melted butter around on top, which I would probably add even more next time. My husband made the brown sugar himself by combining molasses with sugar, which gave it a FABULOUS flavor. The topping, being almost completely on top, wasn't too crumbly, it was soooo delicious. Also, I used half white flour and half wheat flour, and it only needed to be cooked for 35 minutes. I can't say enough how much my whole family loved it! I'm going to make this cake often :)
