Sausage and Cornbread Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
Wonderful. My dad requested cornbread dressing. This was much better than any my grandmother ever made.

Buttermilk Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
Just the right flavor for my husband but I waited until after he finished a large serving before informing him about the buttermilk. I have used different combinations of gelatin flavors and fruit and think I like the orange gelatin and mandarin oranges best. This salad is the reason I now always keep buttermilk.

Pot Stickers Traditional

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
Fantastic. My 14-year-old daughter and I made these and froze about half. They were so tasty, we finished the other half within a few days. We didn't make the sauce as we were able to purchase a quart of some excellent dipping sauce at the Chinese restaurant for only $2. We will be making these again this weekend with pak choy from our garden. Cannot wait.

Pizza Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
Very good and much easier than lasagna. I used leftover spaghetti sauce made with Italian sausage and added the pepperoni. Also added garlic and dried basil. Leftovers reheated well also.

Chutney Turkey Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
Very good. I modified and used what I had. I used some homemade cranberry chutney, mixed curry powder with the mayo, and added slivered almonds. Even better after several days in the fridge.

Tuscan Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
Excellent. I followed the suggestions and used five sausages, an entire can of evaporated milk, shell pasta as a sub for the potatoes, a can of white beans, extra fennel and some dried basil and used fresh pak choy and spinach from my garden.

Creamiest Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2009
My husband said make this one from now on. I added mixed dry fruit and used leftover rice. This tasted best when first made but reheat fine for a short time in the microwave and I serve rice pudding with whipping cream poured on top. Yummy.

Truck-Stop Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
My husband discovered bugs in the Bisquick so I suggested pancakes from scratch. He had never made them without a mix but was very pleased with the tender results - even if he wants to mix until all the lumps are gone. Very good.

Surprise Banana Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2009
I had two ripe bananas so I cut the recipe in half, put in an 8x8 pan. Instead of incorporating the nuts into the batter, I sprinked half of the surface with pecans (my husband's preference) and half with chocolate chips for my daughter. Baked in 375 degree oven for 25 minutes. Perfect. Oh, I did add the baking powder suggested by others.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV

A little bland. Needs some shots of hot sauce or something else?? Will try again and adjust seasonings.

Blonde Brownies I

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
Yummy. I doubled the recipe on the site and made it exactly as is. I used a dark non-stick sheet pan and cooked for 25 minutes. My daughter loves it and said it tastes like a big cookie.

Coq au Vin alla Italiana

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
This did not have enough flavor. I ended up adding Sweet Thai Chili Sauce and more salt and pepper, but it was still not very tasty. Needed more heat?? Don't think I will make again.

Red River Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
Pretty good. I used chuck roast and cooked for about 30 minutes on simmer. Would have preferred it to be thicker so will adjust next time. Also needed to add more salt and some large shots of hot sauce.

Cream of Coconut Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
I am rating the cake only and it was excellent. I filled between the layers with lemon curd and frosted with Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting (on this site) sprinkled on top with coconut. Excellent. My standard coconut cake for now and forever.

Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
Excellent recipe. I will adapt this for every cake I make in the future. I increased the sugar - using 1 cup powdered sugar. I also used all coconut extract and sprinkled the top of my Cream of Coconut cake with coconut. A wonderful birthday cake for my 19-year-old son. Delicious. My daughter put in her request for the chocolate version but I don't think I can wait until her birthday to try it.

Orange Buttermilk Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
Very tasty. I modified it. One package of sugar-free orange dissolved in about 1/3 cup of boiling water, add in 1 cup buttermilk. Mix in 1 large and 1 small can of drained mandarin oranges and half of a large container of large-curd cottage cheese. Set up very nicely in a square casserole dish. I will try pinapple/lime next. (I didn't reveal the buttermilk in the recipe until after my husband said he loved it.)

Southwestern Turkey Casserole

Very tasty. I used a can of tomatoes and green chilis instead of the green chilis. Great use of leftover holiday turkey meat.
