Drop Biscuits and Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2010
I quadrupled the biscuit recipe for our family of six, we did have a few left over. The biscuit recipe was great! The gravy recipe was average, I might alter the sausage to a turkey sausage and see if the flavor improves to my taste. It was too greasy.

YUMMY! Alter the jalapenos to taste. Lime juice makes it great.

Irish Cream Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2010
These were average sugar cookies. Soft inside and crisp outside, but not much more than an average. My family of six barely ate one batch and there was plenty of dough left over in the fridge.

Asian Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2010
I loved it, but my family not as much. It was just the recipe I was looking for and I added chicken to make it a meal much like Applebee's Asian Chicken Salad.

Old English Cream Pie Filling

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2010
I made recipe for just one pie. I used 2 yolks and because I was a little short on cornstarch I supplemented with powdered sugar and cut back slightly on granulated sugar. Not big differences. I altered the cooking method slightly as I have not had luck with adding boiling milk to egg mixtures so I mixed all and simmered slowly to thicken stirring constantly and added butter and vanilla at the end. The result is an amazing tasting sweet cream!! This is my new recipe for any cream pie/pudding. Thanks!

One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
Great Brownies! I heavily sprayed pan with olive oil spray and had no problems with sticking. I added the nuts and a handful of chocolate chips. Too sweet for our taste so I will cut sugar by half next time. It's a keeper!

Shortbread Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
The taste was fine and added to the overall appeal, but it runs to the bottom of the pan while baking. A better choice would be for a flat bottom 9x13 crust, but not a pie pan where it needs to cook up the sides.

Italian Bread Using a Bread Machine

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
This is our favorite bread recipe! I was out of olive oil so I used walnut oil. It still turned out fabulous! Can't wait to try these as rolls for the holidays! Crunchy crust and soft inside. Used left over to make french bread pizzas.

Pumpkin Butter I

This is a fabulous recipe. I made it sugar free by adding 1c. of Agave nectar and it is a stellar sugarfree spread!! All 4 of my kids love it.

Apricot Noodle Kugel

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
Followed this recipe with the exception of peach juice vs. apricot nectar (could not find any). It was good, my kids weren't real impressed. It falls into the category of a bread pudding or rice pudding and I prefer the other venues better. Just a matter of preference, it is a good recipe.

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
These were good sugar cookies. Using real butter makes them taste great. I also followed the advice of other reviewers and used 8 oz. cream cheese. They rolled out perfectly between parchment paper and were easy to work with, not crumbly.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
These pretzels were easy to make and taste great. I had a hard time getting the pretzel shape to stay and not shrink back into a circular blob, so I made sticks instead...still delicious dipped in cheese or cinnamon sugar.

Pan Pierogies

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
This was a great time-saving idea! I used a layer of plain macaroni in a greased 9x13 then a layer of sliced American cheese, followed by real mashed potatoes, followed by carmalized onions, garlic, and cabbage, I sprinkled some shredded 4 cheese blend on top of that. It was delicious and filling!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
My family loved this recipe. I did add some chopped garlic with the onion and I did add chicken granules to water. I put the chicken breast in still frozen (they always come out great in the slow cooker) and I shredded them right before adding the dumplings. I did not have any premade biscuits, but I did have some heart healthy Bisquick. I mixed the dry mix with milk and dropped them by tablespoonfuls into the mixture 2.5 hours before serving. It was a wonderful result on a cold, rainy, windy night!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
I made the crust exactly and doubled as others have suggested. The filling I just used apples peeled and chopped, mixing a scant amount of sugar and spices with them. I did not use water, cornstarch or vanilla. I did use a 9x9 pan and probably didn't have to double the crust, but we like crust and it was good. It was delicious and not a bite left!

Fudge Brownies I

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2009
I found these brownies to be too greasy and oversweet. I think cutting the grease and sugar in half may be a better choice. I made them in a 9x9 pan for my family of six and after five days there was still plenty of brownies. That's telling. Still searching for a great brownie recipe.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2009
My first attempt at cinnamon rolls...they were great. I did not add all of the confectioner's sugar (only 1/2 c) but it was a delicious drizzle to a fabulously huge cinnamon roll! No way you can eat more than one...even if you want to.

Dutch Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2009
This was a great dish! My kids do not normally like cooked carrots, but they ate this dish up. I washed the potatoes and pierced them in my big ceramic mixing bowl and threw the carrots in with them, covered them and cooked them in the microwave. I then mashed them as usual with butter milk and seasonings. It was a great accompaniment to Erika's Roast also found on this site!
