Baker's Secret Pie Crust

THE best pie crust for a cook whom struggled with pie crust. This one comes out perfect! I used all regular flour, but am sure an added element could be had by halfing it with cake flour. Also, my crust did not take all of the yolk, vinegar, water mixture. I followed the instructions for 5 TBS at a time and that was a perfect tip to not "over water" the crust.

Brunch Omelet Torte

Sugar Cookie Icing

Dries hard and shiny. I had to add additional milk so that it wasn't the consistency of fondant. I used vanilla instead of almond extract because I was out...I'm sure I prefer the almond extract as the recipe requests. This will be the go to sugar cookie icing!

Snowballs II

These are wonderful. I crushed the candy canes in a gallon ziploc baggie then added the powdered sugar and put the hot cookies in to gently shake and coat. Worked wonderfully! One coating was plenty for us and they looked festive.

Fluffy French Toast

Hands down best french toast ever! The flour really does make all the difference. I also use agave or sometimes brown sugar. Using homemade bread always turns out fabulous french toast. I am also a believer in using the butter flavored crisco instead of cooking spray on the griddle...surprising difference for me.

These did not turn out for me. I wonder about no sugar or honey with the water and yeast. I'm not sure as I bake homemade bread all the time without issue. I used new bread flour too.

Pork Tenderloin with Balsamic Plum Reduction

I'm really rating the sauce and idea as we had country pork ribs cooking in the crock pot with apple cider. The reduction sauce was awesome! I used a raspberry balsamic vinegar and apple cider since I did not have blueberry juice. Perfect to get "Aahh's" from company. Served with quinoa that had been cooked in apple cider and water and sauteed some cabbage in olive oil to complete the meal.

Fabulous Homemade Bread

This is fabulous for my family of six. I mix the whole recipe with half or less of the brown sugar and mostly honey. We have one loaf with chowder, then regular toast is divine for breakfast, then a loaf for fluffy french toast recipe from this site. I like that it is so versatile and not a one and done meal. I've had great luck with this bread recipe and I do not have a bread machine or stand mixer...just the old fashioned way:)

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake Cookies

First attempt at chocolate cookies...Super Yummy! Used 1/2 butter and 1/2 butter flavored shortening. Used 1c brown sugar instead of 1.5 white. Used 2 c cake flour because I was out of all purpose. Used 2 c. white chocolate chips. Result: outstanding:)

Chicken Salad

I had never made or eaten chicken salad before...on purpose! But needed to make cool weather dinner and decided on this. Using leftover rotisserie chicken, no bacon, no celery and red instead of green grapes as well as green onions was great!! I also used lt. miracle whip instead of mayo. Everything was as written. Family of 6 loved it:)

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Best roast ever! I used just under 2 lb. tri-tip roast, sprinkled liberally with extra tenderizing worcestershire sauce, 1/4 c. good red wine, sprinkled with montreal steak seasoning and spread one can of cream of chicken and mushroom soup over the top. Cooked it on low for 5 hrs. Delicious!!

Slow Cooker Western Omelet

I leave out the potatoes and ham. Use a crock pot liner!! Take soft tortillas and fill with omelet, bacon, cheese, salsa, lite sour cream...it's a winner!

Sweet Potato and Turkey Shepherd's Pie

Different and good! I used a real egg, ground turkey breast, Jameson's sodium free chicken soup base instead of canned stock, whole wheat flour and the rest was the same. We were skeptical, but it's a winner! I love the idea of Shepard's Pie and Angel Food cake on Christmas Eve!! Can't wait to start that tradition. Thanks for sharing:)

Healthier Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Simply wonderful! Only changes were based on my young family's preferences. Crushed tomatoes instead of whole and green peppers instead of cubanelle. Instead of chicken broth I used Jameson's sodium free chicken soup base. I also used Cantina Thin tortilla chips instead of baking my own. LOVE this soup!! Great in the crock pot all day!

Easy Chocolate Chip Pound Cake

I tried this recipe exactly as stated first and it was simply too rich for us. Then I adapted it using 1/2 c. butter instead of oil, added NO extra sugar, used lite sour cream and no chips or dusting sugar and it was phenomenal! Thanks for the idea! It was good with butter pecan cake and pumpkin pudding, also chocolate cake with chocolate pudding and vanilla frosting is a winner! So many combos!

Daria's Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

Used frozen cube steaks. Put worcestershire sauce directly on steaks. Used cream of mushroom soup with roasted garlic. Added 3 garlic cloves. Used 1/2 c. of merlot wine instead of water and added 1T corn starch. Added 8oz fresh baby bella mushrooms 1 hr before end with the lite sour cream. Used whole wheat egg noodles. Steamed broccoli on the side...a delicious dinner. The steak was so tender that when stirring the mushrooms and sour cream in, the steaks broke up into pieces so I didn't have to cut them!
