Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy
I liked this recipe, and so did my four-year old...which was a little odd, because he's the pickiest of picky. My 3 year old didn't like it at all and I couldn't blame him on that one: we both thought the large amount of pepper was "too spicy"--I would half it next time. I also did not have sherry on hand, but the gravy tasted great without it. Perhaps next time I'll use more ingredients to get more gravy, since there wasn't much to go over the rice. One reviewer said they used vanilla? Maybe it's just because I haven't tried it, but that seems a bit overboard and yuck. Who knows though, they might have stumbled on a culinary revelation.

Three Cheese Manicotti II
Definitely an excellent starter manicotti recipe. But the filling was in some ways lacking. I love garlic more than most, but it seemed like there should be more than just the garlic flavor in there. I used the suggested method of stuffing with a ziploc baggie cut at one corner, filling uncooked shells and adding a cup of water to the sauce plus the cooking time of 1 hour. Worked like a champ. But there still wasn't an exuberant amount of sauce (I even diced some fresh tomatoes and added on top) I waited until I took it out of the oven to sprinkle the cheese (would the sauce have been juicier otherwise???). The sauce I picked clashed with the filling, too, IMO, so next time I'll make it myself or pick a different brand (Ragu is awesome). The recipe is a keeper, but feel free to tinker with flavors!

Sauce Rosee
This was the most amazing sauce I've ever tasted! It was quick to make, and tasted like...heaven. It was also fun drinking the Moscato I put into it while cooking. It had a little heat, but it blended well with the other flavors. As it cooled it was a little difficult not to get Thyme stuck in my teeth--I would try to grind this or use fresh next time (and reduced). Otherwise, perfect perfect perfect!!! (Oh, and I used the suggestion to boil the wine a bit before adding the tomato sauce and chicken base, and only added a dash of sugar instead of the full tablespoon, as another reviewer suggested)
