Orange Dream Punch

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2012
I made this for my 3 year old twins birthday party. We had a packed house, 10 kids, 20 adults and this was loved by all. I followed the advice of another reviewer and used half orange sherbert and half vanilla. It really was a dream punch!

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2011
I used the suggestion to make it easier with pancake mix. I also added more ginger because I like it. This was a hit with my husband and my two year old twins. That's hard to find around here!

Chocolate-Filled Crescents

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2011
I made these for a party, people loved them, when the were warm. My husband loved them any temperature and took a whole baggy full to work today. For himself! I thought they were OK, but then, I'm not a fan of sweet breads.

Grilled Chicken Breasts with Zesty Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2010
This is sooooo good. My toddlers only ate a little, but my husband and I ate seconds. That hardly ever happens here!

Orange Chicken Stir Fry

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2010
Very Good, my only complaint was there wasn't enough! I added a little ginger to the sauce, just because I love it. I also used fresh noodles that I pan fried, because that was what I had.

Potato Crunchy Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2010
I made this and it was delicious. I didn't have packaged mashed potatoes, so I used a cup of potato flakes and added a tablespoon of garlic and 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese. I also double breaded by dipping in flour before the milk mixture. I used just 1 cup of milk and while a lot was left over, it made the drenching easier. I might use a bit less next time, but not much.

Mom's Country Gravy

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2010
This was very good. I've made it twice now. The first time, I didn't brown the flour mixture long enough and it tasted floury. This time, I was cooking chicken sausage. I planned on using the drippings from that to make the gravy, but it is so lean, there weren't any real drippings. Instead, I melted butter in the pan that I made the sausage and scraped up the residue from it. I let the flour mixture brown in it for 10 minutes and it was fabulous!

Everyone is asking for this recipe. I doubled it and added 2 tbs of milk to make it thinner. It was so good!

Banana Slush Punch

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2010
This was so delicious! We cut the sugar to 1 1/2 cups and it was perfectly sweet. We also, because of space, left out a cup of water and it was still really good!

Irish Soda Bread from County Cork

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
I had to make this since my ancestors are from County Cork! It is awesome right out of the oven. No butter needed. I didn't have raisins, but I didn't miss them at all.

Horchata de Arroz (Rice Drink)

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2010
Why do you all think this is good? The recipe doesn't even make sense. Pour 2 cups of evaporated milk in the blender when the ingredients only calls for a cup and a half (two cups is 16 ounces). What's up with that. I started it out and had to stop. If someone can explain what is up with this, I would love to make it, but this is really stupid as far as I can tell. I feel stupid starting this before reading all the directions. Man, and I really want horchata. I love it!

Sweetheart Cupcakes

These were great. I wish I had paused and taken a picture. I put a little cherry yogurt in the pink filling since I didn't have any candy oil. They were delish!

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
This was excellent. I'm trading making meals for a friend for child care. She hates to cook and loves children and I need a break and love to cook. Anyway, I paired this with an enchillada dish and they went crazy over it. So did my husband since I kept enough to fill two ramikens. The results were delish!

Chicken with Bouillon

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
I found this way too salty. I think to counter this, serve it with plain rice or mashed potatoes. I made the mistake of cutting the chicken into chunks and seasoning my rice. The leftovers have sat in the fridge for days and I'm about to through it out. That never happens in this house!

Oatmeal Sourdough Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
These are yummy. I don't own a bread machine, and probably never will. I start with the water, honey, molasses and yeast, add egg and butter and then the rest of the ingredients. I'm guessing the dough cycle of the machine lets it rise once. I didn't and ended up with fluffy but small rolls. I'll give it another rise the next time.
