Emily's Famous Hash Browns

These are definitely "Good old fashioned restaurant-style hash browns..." like those I remember and which are pretty much impossible to find today. Whether they are more like latkes or hashbrowns is irrelevant: they are wonderful! I can finally end my search for a good hashbrown recipe. The only change I made was to use unflavored frozen hashbrowns (because I hate shredding) and to defrost, and thereby dryout, on a paper plate sprayed with cooking oil in the microwave. Thank you your mom, you have make me very happy.

Chili Sauce

Great substitute for store bought. "Chili" sauce has nothing to do with the spice "chili" Chili sauce is basically used as a condiment. Mixed with mayonaise or miracle whip makes a great Thousand Island dressing. Also great in liew of the more spicy barbeque sauce on ribs. I also use it over an appetizer spread made of cream cheese and canned salmon. Ellenmel, I am so glad you submitted this as I no longer purchase prepared chili sauce because it contains high fructose corn syrup and I use it on many things.

Green Onion Wraps

I too have been making this recipe for years. Sometimes I use boiled ham or salami or any other cold meat which is sliced thick enough to be firm. I was making this before flavored cream cheese so I would flavor my own. I now use flavored cream cheese. What I have done differently is to take the rolled product as given in the recipe and slice it into about 1/2 to 3/4 inch slices. Serve with toothpicks and this is truly a one bite appetizer.

Bacon Popcorn

I would think that the bacon grease should be refridgerated and I would be afraid to send this with a lunch that could not be refridgerated. Otherwise, very tasty.
