Hazel's Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
Will definitely use this simple and easy recipe again _ turned out flavorful and moist _ did slightly precook onion just to soften and reduced brown sugar by 1/3

Country-Style Ribs

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2010
I prepared recipe exactly as presented, mixing all the ingredients early in the day so they had time to blend. The ribs were moist, tender and cooked to a nice consistency. We thought the taste was okay - nothing offensive but nothing spectacular. I doubt that I would prepare this recipe again.

Marinade for Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2010
except for omitting the salt, I followed the recipe exactly - marinated chicken breasts 7-8 hours; baked in marinade in a covered casserole for 20 minutes at 400*; removed cover & reduced heat; added little red wine to marinade in baking dish, baked until chicken reached 160*; removed from over; covered loosely, allowing rest period - perfectly done - moist, juicy, flavorful - great combination - thank you.

Fish with Lemon Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2010
Prepared recipe as described, adding a little dill weed. Initially it tasted overly lemony but as the other foods absorbed the lemon flavor, it made for a pleasant, quick and very easy accompaniment to the cod I was serving. Since we cook a lot of fish and chicken, I will make this again.

Vegetable Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2010
The dressing is perfect just as it is although I do add a bit of the pasta water to thin it down some. I've made the salad a number of times using different veggie combinations as well as different meats, always ending with a wonderful warm weather meal that appeals to everyone.

Baked Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2010
As others, I did not add water and uncovered mushrooms part way through the baking period. Preparation was very quick and easy. Although good, the final outcome was rather flat tasting. It definitely needs some additional seasoning.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2010
quite good ... substituted butter for oil ... lightly sauteed garlic in butter early in day so flavors would integrate and soaked chicken in garlic butter about an hour before baking for maximum taste

Baked Lemon Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
I marinated the chicken breasts in olive oil & lemon juice prior to baking, then followed the recipe exactly. Using a rack for the chicken, the top crust was perfectly crispy (bottom a bit soggy), chicken wonderfully moist with great flavor. I will definitely prepare this again.

Best Basic Sweet Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
I prepared this recipe for the first time today, cutting the proportions in 1/2 as a tasting test .. end result was a bit crumbly as someone else said but the taste was just sweet enough without being overwhelming .. will use again because it allows for so many variations .. perfect for cinnamon or french toast, bread pudding or whatever your imagination creates .. Thank you for sharing

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
I rated this recipe a 3 because it contained no ingredients to provide flavor and virtually all reviewers altered it in some way. As others, I sauteed the onions along with some finely chopped celery, green pepper and roasted red pepper. I used only half the bread crumbs and milk because I wanted meatloaf rather than bread pudding. I also added Worcestershire sauce and some chopped parsley. It was very tasty but nothing like the recipe provided here.

Shrimp Scampi Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
easy to prepare; great taste; shrimp cooked perfectly; as others, added a splash of white wine; cut butter in half and dish was still overly buttery; would probably not cook again due to extreme richness

Salmon Fillets with Creamy Dill

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
I reduced amount of mayonnaise, preparing the mixture earlier in the day to give the herbs an opportunity to blend - also added dill directly into mayonnaise mixture. This recipe is very easy and quick to prepare, producing a tasty version of salmon. My fish was fully cooked within 20 minutes.

Spinach and Mushroom Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
The recipe as posted is a good combination of flavors but seemed cumbersome -- I followed suggestions offered by Mattsbelly & others and then added a bit of leftover cubed pork loin roast to make it more of a main dish -- mixed some grated asiago into cheddar topping -- quite tasty. Thanks to everyone providing reviews -- very helpful.

Mushrooms in White Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
thought 1/4 cup oil would be complete overload so substituted 1 T butter instead - used as a sauce over pasta with a parmesan cheese topping - was okay but not fantastic

Tender Italian Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
Chicken turned out both moist and tender. I thought the mayo left a distinct taste - have prepared a very similar recipe using butter in place of the mayo and a bit of lemon juice which I liked much better.

Cheesy Sausage Zucchini Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
As with many others, I substituted fresh mushrooms, extra amount of sharp cheddar cheese rather than processed, doubled the amount of rice, added a bit of basil, only baked 30 minutes - easy to prepare, tasty, nice consistency - especially liked being able to prepare in morning & simply pop into oven 1/2 hour before dinner

Flavorful Flounder

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
Using flounder filets, I prepared this recipe exactly as given, baked it at 350* for about 25 minutes and served it over rice. The fish flaked beautifully, was moist and had a wonderful taste with all ingredients blending well ... will definitely use this recipe again. Thank you, Tammy, for sharing it.
