Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
Yum!! This was delicious! I took others' suggestions and added cubed potatoes and frozen mixed veggies to carrot/chicken/celery mix. I also followed suggestions and mixed the gravy with the veggie/chicken mix BEFORE putting in the pie crust and that worked well! Thanks for the great recipe!!

Blueberry Pumpkin Muffins

I didn't have blueberries, so I left them out. Also, all I had was regular oatmeal (not quick oats) and they still turned out great! My family and I loved these!!

Chicken Stir-Fry

I really enjoyed this dish, except I wish I would've followed some of the others' advice and added more soy sauce - it could've used a bit more flavor. Other than that, delicious!

Delicious! Reminds us of the chocolate chip/ coconut cookies at Paradise Bakery! I also added about 1.5 cups of oatmeal. Yum yum.

Three Berry Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2011
I used 1/4 cup cornstarch and 2/3 cup sugar - I didn't have time for it to cool too much (about 30 minutes), so it was pretty runny, but still delicious! Definitely serve w/ vanilla ice cream!

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Amazing! I added chocolate chips too...yum. I think I used too much pam on the pan because the sides and bottom of the bread was pretty greasy. So, I'll go easy on the pam next time.

Blueberry Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2011
Wonderful! Wonderfully moist! Not super sugary like the ones you buy at the store. I used brown sugar instead of white sugar for the streusel, but I'm sure it'd be wonderful w/ white too.

Southern Yank Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2011
I need to make this again and not have it in the crock pot so long. I had to have it in there for about 10 hours on low and it was a bit over cooked. Still tasted pretty great though! However, next time I won't add as much water b/c it was a bit too runny.

Bananas Foster Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2012
This was amazing! I made it for my family on Christmas Eve morning and everyone loved it! It's definitely very rich and needs to be supplemented w/ healthier sides if it's served for breakfast - but oh so worth the calories!! The bananas are such a great addition. I think it smelled like elephant ears as it baked :)

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2012
WOW!!!! These were so easy and amazing! I made the cherry-almond kind. I changed absolutely nothing in the recipe... no need!! Although, I didn't have enough parchment paper, so I used aluminum foil instead and it were perfectly well! I can't wait to make more kinds of these scones!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Sausage Gumbo

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2012
This was such a delicious dish! However, the first time I made the roux, I burnt it (even though I followed recipe's directions). After searching around the internet on how to make roux, I discovered it's not always the easiest thing to make. When I tried again, I didn't cook it the full 15 mins as recipe says - I probably only cooked for 8 mins on medium (after having cooked on med-high for 3 mins). Then, when I took off the burner to cool, I kept whisking for a while to ensure it didn't continue to cook without being stirred (running risk of burning). So, for newbies like me, I would've appreciated more direction on how to make the roux. But, I definitely still give the recipe 5 stars!! It was SO good and is now a family favorite that we'll make often!
