About this Cook
The longer I have been in the kitchen the more I believe less is more. I have always loved to cook, but it wasn't until the last 10 years or so that I became serious about wanting to be a great cook. I love to travel, and enjoy both eating and cooking international cuisine. I always say "even if it doesn't look good try it anyway, you might like it".
My favorite things to cook
Mostly I love to bake bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking would probably top my list of traditions.
My cooking triumphs
I have quickly discovered the best way to become a great baker is to have massive amounts of patience and that practice really does make perfect.
My cooking tragedies
Probably going through about 50-100 pounds of flour before figuring out the secrets of making a perfect loaf. Lucky for me flour is relatively cheap.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup
This was so easy to prepare the kids were able to help out! There was very little preparations. The down side was, it filled my crock pot to the brim and bubbled over, but I got home in the nick of time and put it in a bigger pot. Plus it didn't smell as good as it tasted, so I was a little worried. But it tasted great and did not disappoint, we ate with the recommended sides.

Ube-Macapuno Cake
After reading several other reviews and following my own gut I made couple changes on this recipe. For one, I added extra food coloring to get a vibrant color. I used about 3 tsp of each red and blue. I also mixed the ingredients slightly different, I added the salt into the egg whites to make them stiff and fluffy. I did not add anything else to the egg whites and added the rest to the batter. I also beat the batter as minimal as possible, just enough to get everything incorporated since this seemed to make the cake dry. I also decided to make cupcakes because I wanted small portions, this made 24 cupcakes exactly and took 20 minutes to cook. I topped with a coconut cream cheese frosting and shredded coconut. I took them to work and set them in the break room, they were gone by lunch and went over well:) People seemed to like the exotic food!

Perfect Lobster Bisque
Not bad. I was trying to recreate a crab bisque I had on vacation even though this called for lobster the rest of the flavors looked the most promising so I gave it a whirl. And while this was close in flavor it was not in texture. Even though the process would not be easy to do I think straining the pureed mixture would really help. I will make it again, but next time try to strain it to get an even smoother texture because texture can make or break a meal.
