SAHM to two wonderful little boys, and recently blessed by the addition of a sweet baby girl! Have been cooking since long before I was married. Have been a member here for years but only really starting using the recipes last year, now I'm hooked!
My favorite things to cook
Mexican food! Especially enchiladas, they're my husbands favourite and because I know he'll enjoy them so much, I always look forward to making them for him.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a Mennonite background so homemade food is a big deal. I've been trying for years to master the bun recipe and no matter what I do, they aren't the same as Moms. I have tried the homemade pastas and can do that successfully but find it easier to buy them.
My cooking triumphs
The recipe for the clone of a cinnabon has earned me much praise in our family. My dear 82 year old Grandma who has been making cinnamon rolls for the better part of 70 years, raves about them. After numberous attempts over the years, last year I finally managed to make my first omelette! Before that, they always turned into fancy scrambled eggs.
My cooking tragedies
Noodle soup, the really good, homemade Mennonite version. I am not even close to it tasting good, never mind as good as Moms. For a work potluck last year I made a tried and true bars recipe that people always ask for the recipe for. I doubled the recipe and I must have made a mistake because these things just fell apart in the plate.
