Hawaiian Dessert

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
This was pretty tasty! My family seemed to like it a lot. It makes two big pans so perfect for a party or pot luck. I don't think it is necessary to sweeten the cream either.

Make-Ahead Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
Very simple from scratch coffee cake. Made this for our church breakfast on Easter morning. I loved that I could make it the night before and just pop it into the oven. The cinnamon sugar and pecan topping reminds me of German roasted nuts. Yummy!

Slovak Stuffed Cabbage

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2010
Good stuff very similar to what my mom always made growing up. I used beef and lamb mixture instead of pork since I'm not a fan of pork. I also made it with sliced pieces of beef polska kielbasa on top instead of bacon since that is how my family has always made it. I prefer fresh garlic so I used that and added a splash of Worcestershire sauce and an egg. You got to add the sauerkraut it really adds to the dish and makes this a better stuffed cabbage that others I've tried.

Roasted Kohlrabi

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2010
I too received some kohlrabi from my CSA and had no idea what to do with it. I'm so glad my sister suggested this recipe to me. This very tasty, simple and delicious!!! I didn't bother peeling my kohlrabi and used a mandolin slicer to get nice even thin slices. Also used a Parmesan and Romano blend of cheese. My kids ate this up and said that it tasted better than potatoes.

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
This was very easy and delicious. I dusted my chicken thighs with a little whole wheat white flour after seasoning with the pepper and garlic salt so sauce would be a little thicker in the end. After I added the tomatoes I sprinkled the sauce with a little bit (1/2 tsp) of sugar to balance the tang out a little bit. I absolutely adore Balsamic Vinegar so this recipe was great and two out of my three kids ate it and like it!!! I served it with Trader Joe's green beans and Lundberg Parmesan risotto. Easy weeknight dinner for a busy mom. Thanks!

Lebanese-Style Red Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2009
This was incredible! Tasted just like the lentil soup served in an Arabic restaurant. I did not have the red lentils on hand so I used regular lentils and added a little turmeric to give it some color. I also halved the recipe with no problems. The cilantro, cumin, and lemon flavors all compliment each other perfectly in this soup.
