About this Cook
I was born in Louisiana and lived there until my mom remarried into the military. As a military brat I've had the opportunity to live all over...from Louisiana, Guam, California, Florida, Mississippi, and now Colorado! I'm a southerner and like my tea SWEET!! I'm a wife and also a mom to a busy 2year old! I work full time outside the home so family time is precious to me. I feel lucky to have a husband that likes to cook and bake as well so it doesn't always fall solely on my shoulders. I've been trying to get back into the kitchen a lot more lately. I love finding new recipes to try, although I can be picky, I'm getting better as I've just left the 20's behind!
My favorite things to cook
BBQ, Mexican, Italian, and anything that I can throw into the crockpot. I love coming home and smelling dinner awaiting me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up I remember decorating cookies at Christmas and have started this my own family now. Candy Cane Cookies are a must :)
My cooking tragedies
Lol, living at high altitude has it ups and downs (literally)! The one that sticks out the most was when I was in a rush making cupcakes for my hubby for his birthday and poured all the cake mix into 12 muffin cups instead of doing 2 batches of 12! When I pulled the muffin pan out it was one big sheet of cake!! They tasted fine but sure were hard to ice after I had to cut the tops off and weren't pretty either. I don't think I'll live that one down.

Balsamic Tortellini
My family REALLY enjoyed this recipe! It was quick and very tasty. We're huge balsamic vinegar fans so we really enjoyed the tang of it and will be making again! The directions were a tad confusing with the 2Tof oil in #3, I just used a sprinkle to "coat" the tortellinis and then added the balsamic. I also subbed bacon for the pancetta. My toddler LOVED it, I was uncertain so gave him some without the balsamic and some with and to my surprise he wouldn't eat the plain ones but devoured the ones with balsamic vinegar. Thanks for an excellent recipe!!

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches
WOW! This was really good and will be a regular in my house. It was so easy and tasty. I used Franks Wing Sauce which was 12 oz and I used around 8-9 oz and that was plenty. There is no way I would use a 17.5oz bottle or it would be way too spicy for my family. It was too spicy for my toddler but I took out some chicken before I shredded it and he ate that but wouldn't eat the saucy chicken. However the hubs and I thought it had the right amount of spice with the 8-9oz of sauce. Thanks for a great recipe!!

Cake Batter Ice Cream
YUMMY!!! I can't believe I've forgotten to rate this little gem! My family eats ice cream year round and we LOVE this. We do make it like MySweetCreations recommends and use 1cup of yellow but otherwise follow the recipe! Thanks so much for sharing. This was our first homemade icecream recipe to try out and I'm so glad we did!
