About this Cook
I love to cook homemade meals as much as possible. There are times, however, that I am pressed for time and need quick and easy. Quick and easy is always good!!! I like slow cooking as well because you just get all your ingredients together, throw it in the crockpot & let the smell tease you and your family for hours!
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook Italian foods. They're all good if you ask me. A great steak with homemade sides are good too. I am from Cuban descent so I like to cook black beans & rice and traditional Cuban food though I haven't done it enough to my shame! I love fish and seafood as well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cuban food.
My cooking triumphs
When I first made a pot of black beans that actually tasted like my moms!!!!!! That's when you know you triumphed!!!
My cooking tragedies
Oh, must we go there????

Pineapple Grilled Pork Chops
I prepared this just like it said and it came out delicious! I was very surprised because it doesn't "look" that way at first. I bought the really thick pork chops and they came out extremely tender. I don't recommend marinating them longer than 24 hours, that's the only mistake I made. I left them in there longer (about a day and a half) and they started to get mushy from the marinade but that was my fault. I think next time I'll add teriyaki to it and definitely a little ginger but even if you prepare it exactly as the directions say, it is definitely good! Will definitely make again and it can't be any easier either!!!!

Sauteed Green Beans
I used sliced almonds midway thru so they wouldn't burn and stick better. I did have to add salt & garlic powder. Did not have to use all the grease. Next time I think I will try adding onions. Very tasty.

Slow Cooker Pork Cacciatore
I wasn't too sure about this recipe, especially made with pork but surprisingly enough... it was delicious! I didn't want to stray away from the original recipe since it was my first time making it & I was already skeptical about it. I seared the pork very quickly in a frying pan, just put it on there & took it right off, amazingly the pork was not dry at all which is one of the things I was worried about. I calculated for 6 people and I never ended up using all that sauce nor the 2 cans of diced tomatoes, it would have been way too watery, almost "soupy." I only cooked it about 6 hours on high and that was more than enough time, I can't imagine cooking it 8+ hours! I think it would have tasted better with chicken but it was a nice change with the pork as well. Hope this helps!
