World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2010
The sauce was great and that is about it. Too long cook time; lasagna came out dry when I followed the directions to a T. I was hoping this would blow a Costco frozen lasagna out of the water but for the time and cost it took to make, it wasn't mindblowing by any means.

Best Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2007
Simple, quick and delish. A must to make with chicken satay. Everyone raved about the sauce and ate it by the spoonfuls! You could put it on anything!

Fruit Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2005
Everyone raved about the taste and presentation (ages 10-60 loved it). I made the mistake of using thawed frozen fruit and after sitting out for awhile, the crust was really soggy. Fresh fruit next time! It was still delicious, easy, tantalizing when I set it out and everyone saw it - they immediately wanted some. I would also recommend rolling the cookie dough out as thin as possible without separating. Chris

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2004
Easy, fast and will be something everyone will keep eating and eating (I felt guilty it was so easy and fast). I used Rosarito's jalapeno refried beans and a 'hot' taco seasoning packet -still wasn't that hot but gave it a kick and everyone, including wimps, liked it. The sour cream and cream cheese combo was great; it made the sour cream hold up and not become soupy. Everything mixed together and tasted great. I put it in a clear Pyrex 8"x5" pan and it looked great. Served it with Frito's Scoops.

Mardi's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2004
This is similar to my mom's broccoli salad but we add the following: kidney beans, Good Season's Zesty Italian you make yourself (much better than the bottled kind), garlic salt. Right before serving we add grated cheddar cheese and halved cherry tomatoes (makes it less soupy). Better after marinating for 2 days. Always a requested dish! This recipe is good with the artichoke hearts. Costco now sells jarred hearts of palm and that may be a good addition as well.

Fresh Tomato Salsa

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2004
Excellent and easy to make! Not many ingredients but the flavor is the best. The 5 serrano peppers were a bit on the 'hot' side, so if you like your salsa more mild then only put in 3. Be sure to wear gloves when cutting the peppers as I made the mistake of wiping my face and OUCH!!

Amy's Cilantro Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2004
I eat this by the spoonfuls it is so good! It thickens up after put in the fridge. The flavor is the best and a bit spicy too! I serve it with everything: cheese crisps, fish tacos, celery, chicken breasts, etc. It is a breeze to make and a definate keeper! I hate to run out of it!

Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2003
I have made this recipe when it first came out and it is definitely a favorite with everyone. I ways get about 18 cookies, not 36. Last batch I mixed pistachios and almond slivers together with craisans and WOW! The dough is VERY STICKY. I sprayed my hands with Pam and that seemed to help.

Asian Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2003
I used 2 bags of shredded cabbage PLUS two heads of cabbage, shredded, with the original amount of dressing. Good thing I did or the veggies would be swimming in oil. I would suggest using less oil...........seemed way too much on the cabbage. Definately toast the sesame seeds separate so they don't get burnt! I would have liked a more tangier dressing than this sweet-oily concoction. I did add 1 pkt of ramen seasoning and that helped a little.

Almost No Fat Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2003
Added extras as mentioned and it was great for a no-fat bread. Made double batch and baked muffins and bread. I would suggest cooking it less than stated for a less chewier crust. Smelled wonderful and tastes better than the oily versions.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2003
Excellent slow cooker recipe. Doubled the recipe and added 2 large cans of drained mushrooms, some sherry and at the end added 8 oz cream cheese and about 1/2 c or so of sour cream. Delish! Had to add a little salt though but other than that a definate keeper.

Roasted Vegetables

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2003
I thought it tasted better sitting out at room temp rather than right out of the oven. Husband thought there was plastic burning in the house while it was cooking. Pretty in presentation but not what I was expecting. I had to turn down the oven temp too after the first 20 min. Used lemon juice instead of balsamic and very bland; had to add lots of salt & pepper. Probably will not make again. It was not a hit at our dinner party tonight.

Michelle's Soft Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2003
These are good as cut out cookies but not the best 'sugar cookies'. We made them both ways - cut out and just rolled into balls. Instead of refrigerating overnight, I put bowl in freezer for about 15-20 min. I am still looking for the 'hands down best soft sugar cookie' ever!!

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2002
I agree with Teresashen from Arizona (I am from AZ too!). The dough was too dry; crumbly while mixing, so I added less than 1/4 cup of water and the dough was perfect. Great smell while baking and great taste! Better than regular gingerbread.

Toasted Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2002
We had terrible pumpkin seeds this year, so it may not have been the recipe. I combined the butter w/the water and tossed the seeds then toasted per directions. So-so overall. Like I said, we had terrible seeds - more hull than seed.

Cajun Style Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2002
Was very excited to try this but won't give it a 5-star rating. Loved the flavors and spice but thought it TOO GREASY, too bread crumby and too mushy even after standing for 5 min out of the oven (we like our meatloaf more 'meaty' - add less/no bread crumbs!). I am sure this will be delicious when cold. Recommend this set for at least 15 min and not the suggested 5 minutes. It was still way too mushy. As it achieved room temp it was perfect consistency. Surprisingly, no one raved about it and everyone at our Halloween dinner party ate other things that were offered; we practically had a full loaf left!

Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2002
We used Boboli crust and covered w/Ranch dressing instead of Bleu Cheese. Added a little bit of cheddar cheese w/mozzarella and a sprinkling of red pepper flakes (although we didn't need!). Everyone loved it!!! Great flavor but pretty hot for people who like 'mild hot'.

Special Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2002
Everyone loved these! The horseradish definately gave it a different slant........my filling was a little too 'soupy' for me and don't know why; too much overmixing?? Used a little less relish but overall flavor was exceptional!!
