Sweet Potato Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2014
The bigger they are, the better they are. I added a little Garam Masala to them, because I wanted a little umpf. Will make again.

Crazy Crust Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2013
This is a great recipe as-is. I found more success with having the milk and eggs at room temp- in terms of ease of "spreading". For variation I added 1/4 t crushed red pepper, and it was nice and zippy.

White Almond Wedding Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2013
Great recipe. I made as cupcakes and it was perfect. I have made as whoopie pies, and it wasn't so great--the ultimate 'cake' was too moist for whoopie pies. They stuck to the plate I served them on. I tried cooking the next batch longer, and same result. I will stick with these as cupcakes or cake

These tasted great, however they stuck to my non-stick pan. Any ideas?

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2012
Easy to make. The cookies seemed to need a little salt. Next time I will try with salted butter. I used two long-handled dessert spoons to get the filling in the holes. Baby spoons would work as well

Oatmeal Whoopie Pies

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
These were EXCELLENT! Please learn from my mistakes. I made them in a whoopie pie pan. It is completely unnecessary to do so, and in fact the pan screwed up the batch. I will have to remake because of the way they turned out. In the meantime, my neighbors and I are eating the screw ups, and yum-o!

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Good but wayyyyyy to salty. I wish I read others' comments about the salt. I'm amazed at how much flavor comes from so ingredients.

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
when i was making these, I kept thinking the dough was the consistency of buttercream frosting. And I didn't think they would set up enough to roll out. Anyway, they did. I didn't try to use cookie cutter, but rather just small round smashed with bottom of glass. They're an ok cookie. Nothing horrible, nothing great.

A good solid pancake. There is absolutely no reason to ever purchase boxed pancake mix again. Fluffed up nicely, tasted great.

Sourdough Tomato Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2010
EXCELLENT recipe. I added about 1/4 c chopped sun dried tomatoes to this, and will definitely do this again. I also baked only one loaf and froze the second loaf. The frozen loaf worked out fine--very much like buyign frozen bread. I don't know if this made a difference, but some recipes call for rising in the refrigerator for 12+ hours before baking. Due to my time constraints, I put the unfrozen loaf in the loaf pan and refrigerated for 24 hours before baking. I let it rise on the counter for 2 hours before baking Texture was great and the flavor was awesome.

French Baguettes

Nice texture bit I expected better flavor. Nice dough to work with. Easy recipe, but I prefer baguettes from grocery store over this bread. House smelled wonderful though.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies IV

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
I made these cookies on the large side, for a special event. I used the "large scoop" from Pamp Chef and I cooked them for 20 minutes on 350. They were perfect. This is a fantastic recipe. One thing I did, which I won't do again, is I purchased a large chunk of Ghiridelli white chocolate from Trader Joe's. I ran it through my food processor to chop it (to save time). Well... it doesn't work well and chopped everything too small. It would have been better if I just chopped with a kitchen knife instead. I DEFINITELY recommend buying this chunk of chocolate/white chocolate though. Its all good... they taste fantastic with a little bit of chocolate in every bite. I will defintely make this recipe again!

Cut-Out Cookies in a Flower Pot

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
Excellent tasting cookie. I too made them with only vanilla, because I didn't have butter flavoring. I probably will continue to do this for future batches. I used thick bamboo skewers I purchased at the grocery store and made 4" cookies. The sticks held up fine, and it is far easier than asking my husband to cut dowels. :) (I did not soak the bamboo, just took them straight out of the package). I had a problem with the dough sticking to my marble surface. I rolled out small batches in between deli wrap sheets, and it was perfect! I had to bake them longer, and found that the cookies were a little too brittle after decorating, if I did not cook longer. Also, I preferred those baked on my Pamp Chef stone vs those cooked on metal. They were more evenly cooked and not as doughy in the middle, which affects the cookie's integrity. I'm still looking for a good frosting recipe though.
