Marshmallow Fondant

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2011
I have never made fondant the "old-fashioned" way,so I can't compare the two; but this recipe is easy and it WORKS! I followed the advice of one reviewer and used marshmallow creme, instead of marshmallows and water. It turned out beautifully. In fact, my 9 year old daughter decorated my son's birthday cake with this fondant...and she had never used fondant before! She did an excellent job with it! Wonderful recipe. =0)

Carolyn's Orange Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2010
I am new to making sweet rolls but these turned out fantastic! The first time I made this recipe, I made them according to the recipe except for that in the morning after I got them out of the fridge, I didn't wait 2 hours for it to come to room temperature. They warmed up quickly on their own from the warmth of my hands as I patted out the dough. They were very moist and tender, just the perfect texture. The second time I made them, the only thing I did different was that I did not let them rise in the fridge for 8 hours. I didn't have time because company was coming over, so I let it rise in a warm spot for an hour, then shaped the rolls and let them rise again for thirty minutes. They turned out amazing! I will use this recipe from now on...no need to look any further for a sweet roll recipe. FYI: you can use this recipe to make wonderful cinnamon rolls, lemon rolls, whatever flavor you are in the mood for! You can also make a simple glaze with powdered sugar, flavoring, water and a little butter or margarine.

Belgian Waffles

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2010
These were of course a little time-consuming but well worth it! My usually very picky girls each ate two whole waffles...that's a big deal for them! I have never had Belgian waffles before making these, so I don't have anything to compare them to. But they were delicious in their own right! I love baking with yeast so these were just up my alley. Thanks for the recipe.

Fried Okra

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2010
This was a great recipe! I had been looking for a fried okra recipe that would be like the ones I used to have at church as a kid when I lived near Huntsville Alabama...this was it! I did follow some reviewers advice and used half corn meal, half flour and I used 1 egg lightly beaten with about 1/2 cup soured milk (I didn't have buttermilk as a reviewer suggested so I added a little white vinegar to my non-fat reconstituted powdered milk...it worked great!) Anyway, my husband LOVED it too and I even caught my 2 year old son trying it...and he liked it! I also had some yellow crook neck squash that I needed to use up so I tossed it in there with the okra. Fabulous! I will use this recipe from now on...thanks so much for sharing!!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2010
This is the best and tastiest bread I've made! My husband LOVED it...and he is very picky about his bread! The only changes I made were 1. I used half extra virgin olive oil and half canola oil in place of the vegetable oil and 2. I had some sour dough starter, so I replaced about 1/2 cup of the flour with 1 cup sour dough starter. It was amazing. My husband said I have found THE bread recipe and to keep doing it just like this!

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2010
I have to say...I was skeptical at first to try to make doughnuts at home. And I couldn't imagine that they would turn out really good. But these far exceeded my expectations! They were MAGNIFICENT!! I made them with my two young daughters and they had a blast helping make the dough, rolling it out, cutting the shapes and decorating them. I fried them, myself, of course! =0) These were time-consuming, but very easy. Well worth the time. As per one reviewer's suggestion, I doubled the amount of glaze. It just was not enough for the amazing amount of doughnuts! And towards the end of the glaze, I added some cinnamon and glazed a few with the cinnamon glaze...delish! We will definitely make these again...VERY SOON!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
I have looked and looked, searching everywhere, for a perfect biscuit recipe. I have been unable to find it....until now! This is the best biscuit I have ever made! I was even out of all-purpose white flour and had to use unbleached flour...and they were still light and fluffy!! I also used cold butter in place of shortening. Thank you for this recipe...I will use it always!
