About this Cook
Hi there! I am a homeschooling mom with four children and have been happily married for 11 years now. Cooking and baking have always been a pleasure for me. I began really cooking when I was a teenager and decorated my first wedding cake at age wedding cake! (Actually my husband and I did that together!)
My favorite things to cook
Oh, goodness...there are so many! But let me try to narrow it down a bit. First off: I LOVE to bake bread! I have a routine now that every Thursday I bake the family's bread for the weekend and the next week. I was given a sour dough starter and include this in my bread-making every week also. I also really enjoy baking cakes, cookies, cheesecakes...lots of desserts! Oh, and give me a new and adventurous baking recipe and I'll be happy! When it comes to cooking, again, I like to try a bit of everything. But I guess my favorite things to cook are fresh pizzas from scratch (or is that considered baking again?)and big breakfasts such as waffles or pancakes, veggie and cheese-stuffed omelets, bacon...mmm.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Fresh-baked bread and pizzas every Thursday helps me get through the week! Doing pizza on Thursdays, instead of Fridays, gives my husband something yummy to flaunt at work for lunch the next day! ;0) We also like a huge home-cooked meal on Thanksgiving and Christmas of course. I usually try to plan some old-fashioned, authentic and traditional dishes for these holiday meals. This year, we're going for an authentic First Thanksgiving-style feast, complete with venison, pumpkin bread pudding and fresh fruit and veggies!

Marshmallow Fondant
I have never made fondant the "old-fashioned" way,so I can't compare the two; but this recipe is easy and it WORKS! I followed the advice of one reviewer and used marshmallow creme, instead of marshmallows and water. It turned out beautifully. In fact, my 9 year old daughter decorated my son's birthday cake with this fondant...and she had never used fondant before! She did an excellent job with it! Wonderful recipe. =0)

Banana Crumb Muffins
This was very good and easy to make! I also substituted canola oil for the melted butter...turned out wonderfully!
