Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
AWESOME, kickin', incredible, life changing pizza crust!!! :-) The reason I say life-changing is because I usually am never able to make pizza crust since I always used the bread machine...by the time I got home, never enough time to load machine and let it rise, etc. With this recipe, I skip all that and can make last-minute homemade pizza. ** I added 1 tsp of onion powder, 1 tsp of garlic powder and @ 1 tsp of pizza seasoning or oregano, used garlic olive oil and let it rise that extra 20 minutes or so.....truly better then my old stand-by that takes forever!!

Garlic Cheese Chicken Rollups

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
I've used allrecipes for many meals for my family & never have rated any of them. I just made this for my family (did make a few changes) they are picky eaters as in many famly's & they just raved about it. I did make my own filing of cream cheese, montery/garlic cheese, fresh garlic, basil, parsley, salt, pepper & store bought 3 cheese blend. I used town house butter crackers instead of bread crumbs. The best part- :) strips of bacon for a visual. It came out AWESOME !!! I love this site & all the things it has to offer & that we all can exchange our ideas & our own review's from REAL famlies. Thanks again & hope this was useful to some.

Easy Lemon Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2005
These are delicious and so simple!! My grandmother, who bakes for everyone else but rarely eats her own goodies just loves these. Let them turn just golden on the edges and they turn out great. I have also used this recipe ratio to create other kinds of cookies - basically any cake mix with 2 eggs and 1/3 c. oil and add whatever you like - chocolate tends to absorb more liquid so I add a couple tablespoons of chocolate sauce... Try the spice cake cookies at Christmas - YUM!! Much thanks to Lissa - this is a winner!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2005
This is an excellent & sturdy recipe when baking with children - it tastes great and doesn't fall apart. I followed the other reviews and used the sugar cookie icing - it was awesome! These have a certain flavor that is very simple but highly addictive - they are not terribly sweet but very yummy!

Lemonade Pie V

This is such a quick and easy summer treat - you can throw it together in minutes and it is sooooo refreshing! If you are having company or have the time to make it pretty, pipe the topping thru a large star tip and sprinkly some pink sugar around the edge...... So cute the kids couldn't keep their hands off it!

Hot Artichoke Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2005
This came out soooo gooey and yummy - it was a major hit! I would make sure to serve it very warm, though. I took it to a family dinner over an hour away and hadn't thought about that.... it was cool to the touch when served and was hardly eaten. I, however, had tasted it straight out of the oven so I knew it was delicious.... The hostess sent me home with the leftovers and I re-warmed it in the oven and my husband and I devoured it with tortilla chips!!! Next time I will double it and make sure I serve it bubbly ;)

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2005
My family is still talking about *my* famous scones! These are excellent and so versatile. I made them for Christmas morning and doubled the recipe ( I know that's supposed to be a big 'no-no' but with a family of 6, it is a necessity!) Anyway, I then split it 3 ways and added dried cranberries to one, mini-chocolate chips to the other and lemon oil (or extract - 1 tsp or so) to the last. I made some glaze and snipped the end of a baggie so I could pipe the decorative stripes and I swear, the people at Starbucks called and asked me for the recipe ;) The chocolate chip ones were a major hit and I made chocolate icing so the visual contrast was really good - the lemon were my favorite. I was in a rush but next time I will add a bit of rind and sprinkle a touch of yellow sugar across the top. ( I will skip the cranberry since it was sadly ignored next to the chocolate and lemon!) **These did take a while to make - pastry blending the shortening into a double-batch had me grimacing a bit but they were really worth it**

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2005
Oh yeah! This is sooooo good my husband and I practically scarfed the whole thing by ourselves... granted, my 4 kids did not take to it very well but in their defence, they are wicked picky eaters and had the misfortune of walking in as I was adding the cream cheese. Oh the horror!! ;) This is an awesome recipe that will have you waiting expectantly by the crock pot....

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2004
Spectacular recipe!! Excellent flavor, moist and so good that frosting is not necessary. I bake all the birthday cakes in my family and use this as my "base" chocolate cake recipe ***My only complaint: chocolate chips are a bit too hard for me after this cake cools - I just skip them.*** I divide this in two 8 or 9" round pans and fill with homemade custard and then frost and decorate - it is a hit! I also do not have liquour on hand so I use strong coffee instead :)

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Excellent salad - light and delicious. I forgot to add the sesame and poopy seeds and it was still great. Sounds funky but everyone loved it and wanted the recipe. Great recipe for kids as they scarf it right up and don't realize it's good for them! *** Spinach leaves wllt quickly so make it as close to serving as possible! ***

Aussie Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2003
Best chicken I have ever tasted! A bit time consuming to make but well worth it. The flavors blend wonderfully and the chicken gets a bit crisp on the edges - my mouth waters just thinking about it! Every single person who tasted this loved it - even those who don't like honey-mustard.

Baker's Secret Pie Crust

Best pie crust ever!! The only recipe I use - I just tossed out all the others! If you have any extra - roll it out and cut into squares with pizza cutter, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and bake at 425 degrees until lightly browned. I call them "Pie Crisps" and they are yummy!!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2003
This recipe has made me famous in my own neighborhood!! And my father admitted it was better than his mother's apple pie. I use Granny Smith's and Macintosh apples and toss them with a bit of lemon juice. Making a lattice top crust is still tricky for me but after pouring the caramel over it, you can't really see any mistakes. Have a piece of foil handy since you will probably have to tent the pie after the first 20 minutes ( or it will brown too much )

Buttermilk Honey Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2003
** Dough is SO runny if you make it as specified ** I would reduce buttermilk to 1 cup as previously suggested. I didn't realize that and had to add an additional 3/4 cup whole wheat flour. Turned out FAB!! Excellent chew and flavor. Will divide and make dinner rolls next time :)

Creamy Caramel Flan

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2003
Wonderful, rich flan!! Made it for my friend next door ( a traditional Latino woman who usually is teaching me how to cook ) and she loved it and asked for the recipe! That was a first. ** Do not use a 10" pan unless you want a very flat flan - I would use an 8" one next time and perhaps lengthen cook time slightly **

Texas Sheet Cake II

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2002
Very tasty & moist cake - old fashioned flavor that is very satisfying. The "frosting", in my opinion, is more of a cocoa icing and was very sweet - even for my sweet tooth! Not at all creamy or fluffy, but compliments the cake well. (I was hoping for the same fudgey consistency as some other posts mentioned but my icing was thin and ran all over. I followed the recipe to the tee but wonder if I should have let it boil for a bit longer.)
