Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2004
I only used 4 ounces of cream cheese and substituted canned chicken broth instead of the chicken granules. Everyone loves it and I've never had any leftover. A definite make ahead crowd pleaser.

Excellent flavor and consistency. Even my husband (who is not fond of rice) liked it.

Philly Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2002
I have been searching for a good "make ahead" mashed potato recipe. THIS IS IT! I followed the recipe as stated except I added garlic but you could easily omit the chopped onion and the Durkee onion topping. They were creamy and not at all dry like so many make ahead recipes. A definte keeper.

Bud's Potato Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2002
I made this for a neighborhood barbecue yesterday. We all thought it was too sweet. We're all used to a more "typical" potato salad with crunch.

Comfort food at its best! I substituted cream of chicken with herbs soup, added two cloves of garlic and used fresh carrots cut into small dice. Yummy!

Carrot Spread Surprise

This is quite good. Even my picky husband liked it and he usually won't even try anything "different". I might add a pinch of garlic next time.

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: May 8, 2002
I doubled the sauce ingredients like so many suggested. I didn't have salad dressing mix so I substituted 3 teaspoons Italian spice blend. Used regular cream cheese and 3 teaspoons freeze dried chives. My husband and I loved it and it wasn't too salty. A keeper!

I used a 12 ounce package of frozen, cleaned (but not cooked)shrimp and a 15 ounce can of diced tomatoes with juice. It was simple and had just the right amount of heat. A definite keeper.

If you don't LOVE garlic, don't try this. Fortunately, I do and found this excellent.

Aussie Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2002
My husband and I enjoyed this chicken recipe. I wanted to reduce the fat so I substituted Bacos for the bacon. He said it reminded him somewhat of Southern style barbecue sauce.

Butter Pound Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2002
This pound cake is fantastic! My husband says it tastes just like the one his Granny used to make. Everyone I have served it to has asked for the recipe and actually made it themselves also. My neighbor now makes this almost every week!

House Fried Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2002
Excellent way to use up leftover Easter ham. I omitted the shrimp and chicken and used three cups of diced ham. Next time I will probably use more garlic and onion than called for in the recipe. Very good!

Farmer's Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2002
My husband walked in the door and said "What are you cooking - it smells good". I substituted shredded Cheddar and diced green chili peppers for the pepper-jack and added 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard to milk-egg mixture. It was good. A keeper.

Bacon Chicken I

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2002
Simple ingredients. Fabulous taste! I cut 2 chicken cutlets into strips, sprinkled them with pepper and garlic powder, poured the sauce as given in the recipe over all, then laid the bacon strips on top. After 30 minutes, I uncovered the dish and turned the heat up to 400. Served it over angel hair pasta. Yum!

My mother-in-law has made these for years. She makes them in individual foil packets and sprinkles them liberally with Worcestershire sauce and Heinz 57 sauce.

Mother-in-Law's Chops

The chops were very tender and good but just a tad too sweet for my family and guest. Will probably try tomato sauce instead of catsup next time.

This is very tasty. Friends that are on a low carb diet loved it. Didn't have a spoonful left! I didn't change a thing in the recipe but next time I will try frozen green beans.
