Iam a 48yo mom, nurse, Deacon in my church. My husband and i have been married for 5 years. His two children are grown and his daughter has two children. My oldest daughter lives in Syracuse, my 17 yo is getting to start college. So i'll soon be experiencing the "empty nest" feelings. Looking forward to this next chapter in my life!
My favorite things to cook
I do love to make desserts. Breads and rolls from scratch. My husband is a diabetic so i do very little of either anymore, unless i have a home for them and they leave very soon after being prepared. I don't like to tempt.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas sugar cookies, whoopie pies, raisin filled cookies, peanut brittle, peanut butter blossoms, chocolate chip. I make and give away to family, friends, mailman, etc.
When my mother-in-law is here with us for the holidays we make popcorn balls, thats fun too!
My cooking triumphs
A non traditional turkey dinner. In other words, i changed the recipes of all the traditional items. Everything was great, but the guests wondered where the "traditional" foods were. Oh well, i don't cook thanksgiving dinner anymore.
The corpiconia made from crescent rolls filled with veggies. It was fun to make and made a great table center piece.
My cooking tragedies
Marzipan (NEVER again)
