About this Cook
I dig cooking and for the most part I seem to do it pretty well. I've always been a good recipe follower but only as of late have I begun to get creative and experiment with my own recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I'm a newbie to vegetarianism, so I've been experimenting with lots of soups and pasta dishes as of late. Definitely digging this whole new world of foods. I have an unhealthy soft spot for cheese and whine and love cooking with both.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to cook with my kids. They suck at it but it's a good time anyway :o)
My cooking triumphs
I make soups really well, and am pretty fantastic at anything pasta related.
My cooking tragedies
Anyone who believes I am able to fry bone-in pork chops without burning them to a crispy puck believes incorrectly. Luckily I have become a vegetarian so no more will my family suffer.

Cauliflower-Cheese Soup
As is, I think this is a 3 star soup. It is significantly bland and is missing some necessary acidity. I was able to pull it up from a 3 star to nearly 5 stars by substituting the water for veggie broth as other raters suggested and then adding to the mix 1-2 TBS of vinegar, a half a cap full of lemon juice, 1tsp of garlic powder, and about 1/8tsp to 1/4tsp of cayenne pepper. I then served it with some egg knot rolls and garnished it with chopped scallions. YUMMY!!

Lemon Butter Chicken
This was pretty good. I used skinless boneless breast because it's all I had on hand. I also used lemon juice from a bottle (2 TBS to equal out the juice of 1 lemon). The dish definitely had flavor, but I wasn't exactly crazy about the flavor itself. Not bad, and definitely a pleaser with my 8 year old daughter. Might make it again, might not. Either way I don't think it would be totally missed if I didn't stick it into my dinner rotations.

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken
This was pretty good. I baked it at 375 for 45 minutes, turning it over twice during baking. I think the addition of some other flavors might be helpful as most of the flavor seems to come from the butter. Perhaps if I had broiled it (which I couldn't do because I no longer have a broiler in my oven) it would have cooked up a little different. It was definitely great for last minute cooking, but in the future I think I'll probably try to infuse some more pepper, and use unsalted butter.
