I am a true southerner, but souther food has never been my thing. I have made fried chicken ONCE in my entire life and just recently discovered the simple beauty of fried cube steak.
I have been married for over 10 years to a mad who'd eat red meat with a side of boxed mac and cheese and mashed potatoes for every meal. We have one daughter who is 5. I am constantly trying to find new recipes to introduce healthy foods into her diet. We live in a very small town were buying ingredients for most recipes that interest me is impossible. I have to drive 40 minutes to do my shopping.
My favorite things to cook
I focus on whole foods. If the recipe calls for cream of chemical X soup or any MSG containing ingredient, FORGET IT. My daughter was 5 before she had her first corndog if that tells you anything. I love trying new recipes from around the world.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother's signature dish was chicken and dressing. In the south, that consists of a mixture of cornbread, onion, sage, hen, salt, pepper, raw eggs, and broth mixed together and baked.
