Slow Cooker Scalloped Potatoes with Ham

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2013
Easy to follow instructions. Used 1/2 and 1/2 instead of water. Used 1 more cup cheddar cheese. Baked on low for 7 hours. I bet this would taste better using no ham or with crunchy bacon.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2011
For some reason my "scalloped' potatoes never seem to turn out; dry or not cooked enough. I made minor changes only because I needed more than 4 servings. Used Pyrex lasagna pan 13x9 and about 12 potatoes, enough to fill the pan. Didnt change the cheese recipe and it covered the potatoes to about 1/4" from top. Cooked for 80 minutes and potatoes were cooked perfectly! Salted and used onion powder instead of onions, nicely tasted and odd enough just enough cheese taste. NOW...trial and error will be to be eaten the next day in a crock pot Want to see if this dish can be cooked day before and kept warm in crock pot- if YES then this is a winner! Always never have oven space. Let's see!

Microwave Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2008
I usually can mess up an easy recipe. I made this 3 times before I mastered it! Follow ingredients and instructions exactly. Grocery size brown bags worked best for me. More space allowed better shaking and coverge. Used wax vs foil which worked BEST. If you follow the instructions it will work out great. I found adding more popcorn to the brown bag did not work as it didn't cover as well. I made this for a fundraiser and got about 3 good size baggies per bake. Alot of work but it is really very good! I also cut the margarine in 1/2 which saved money to stretch it out. I normally use butter so I can imagine what real butter would have tasted like!!

My Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2008
AGREE! Great, simple chili that doesn't take much timeor ingredients. I also added cumin. I think this seasoning adds sweet/spicy to the taste. My picky family loved it and asked for more. I put it in the crock pot to simmer all day and it just melted all the flavors together. CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THIS RECIPE!

Sour Cream Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
Really good and EASY recipe- My modifications- didn't have time to slow cook I didn't have time to slow cook & that is the reason I gave 4stars. I bet using the crock pot the recipe would be a 5 star! Seasoned with my fav seasonings, floured and browned. I used 2 chicken boullins with 2 cups of water but I think chicken broth is the same. I ALSO used cream of mushroom soup to the broth mixture and poured over pork chops and simmered for 45 mins. Then right before they were done, added the sour cream and heated it through. I served it over some egg noodles and it was delicious even my picky husband liked it. He said it was keeper. I would like to try the crock pot method which I think will be the best!

Cocktail Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
Was looking for something for cocktail weiners and thought this would worK. It did! I didn't have lemon juice so I substituted with lemon extract. It was pretty tasty and if I had lemon juice I think it would have been even better. I definitely will try with frozen meatballs and follow the sauce exactly. Great appetizer dish.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2002
ABSOLUTELY, FANTASTICALLY, DELICIOUS!!!! This was the best! Everyone raved about it! I can not believe that it turned out so great! I used pear jam- something lighter than strawberry or raspberry since you already have the berries. Will definitely make it again. The kids loved it too

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2002
VERY GOOD! Similar to Mexican Lasagne recipe. Didn't use the diced tomatoes and we aren't tomato people. Used taco sauce/enchilada sauce mixture to my taste. Can be used as a appetizer as a dip. Thanks for sharing

Peach Cobbler I

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2002
Very good and easy! My mother in law freezes fresh peaches so I used those. Much better than canned so I didn't have to use sugar to sweeten them. I added alittle bit of lemon juice and sprinkled about 1/2 cup of sugar on top.

Oven Beef Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2002
I must have done something wrong. It did not cook in 4-5 hours. The potatoes were still hard? Alittle bland so I added parsley and other seasonings. If the potatoes had turned out better it would have been decent.SORRY

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2002
This was very easy! But it was dry. I didn't care for it. I needed a recipe that didn't use oil (as I was out). I prefer the box cake mix recipes that use instant pudding. Those are moist!! Sorry

Beef and Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2002
I an sorry but this was awful! I like Hamburger Helper but this was not. Read other reviews and I am glad I cut back the worchestire sauce to 1 T and cut out the sherry. My husband who hates Hamburger Helper really liked it?! I am glad he did because I would have thrown this away. I am sorry it didn't turn out as it sounded really good. I also thought using tomato sauce instead of tomato soup. Sorry!

Cake Mix Cookies IV

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2002
This are EASY and good! At first when letting them cool- they still seemed to be doughy in the middle. After letting them cool overnight they harden but were still very moist. The coloring is different but they are very good and SIMPLE to make. I used yellow cake mix and chocolate chips. Using different varieties could be even better

Breaded Center Cut Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2002
Alittle too much italian seasoning taste. They turned out dry- maybe instead of 60 minutes- 50 minutes? Also used PChef pan and didn't spray as your not suspose to and the bottom side pulled away from the meat. Not sure if I did something wrong as it sounded like it would have turned out pretty good. May try again.

Hash Brown and Pork Chop Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2002
Used diced hash browns rather than shredded. Should have used shredded- or cooked alittle longer. Alittle too much cheese. Needed alittle more seasoning as C of Celery doesn't have alot of taste. Added garlic and parsley. Overall- VERY EASY and Good. Porkchops were juicy and tender. The best!!!

Heavenly Potatoes and Ham

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2002
It is a easy one meal casserole. It could have had more ham- added 1 cup later for leftovers. Didn't care for the bread crumbs. Family wanted alittle more cheese so maybe omit bread crumbs and add more cheese to it. Similar to a cheesy red potatoe recipe I have using cheese whiz. Overall pretty good recipe. Good for potlucks!

Basic Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2002
EASY, TASTY and QUICK. What more can you ask for?! Make your spaghetti sauce from scratch or jar of Prego (my preference as it is on the sweet side and not too bad for the jar). Mix sauce with spaghetti and pour in a 9x13 dish. I did follow others to add butter and fresh basil to the noodles. Spruced up plain ole noodles. Add favorite cheese to the top to bake. What a great meal~! Can't go wrong.

Golden Rum Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2001
This was the BEST! I made 5 during the holidays for different family/friend parties. EVERYONE raved and had seconds. Once I followed directions and glazed when it was still warm. Was worried as I thought it would turn out mushy- it didn't. Next time I glazed when it was cooled and it turned out to be more of a crunchy clear glaze which was festive looking. You can also put 1/2 the glaze on if you think it's too much and it still is very good. Great recipe!

Army SOS Creamed Ground Beef

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2001
I agree with a few of the raters that the taste was alittle bland. But just adding onion powder/salt and garlic salt to it- make it VERY GOOD. I poured it over rice and had veggies and a salad. My picky family loved it! It doesn't look appetizing but for being so simple- it's really good!
