My favorite things to cook
We started having meatless Mondays this year, and it is fun to find new recipes for a variety. Several curry recipes have made it into the collection, as well as two or three eggplant favorites. Always looking for new fish recipes too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite tradition is getting together with my sister and nieces to bake the Christmas goodies we remember from childhood, as well as the recipes we pick up along the way.
My cooking triumphs
It has been several years, but friends used to rave about my sauerbraten served with red cabbage and potato pancakes that was an annual event. We put together a family cookbook after a family reunion one year, and it was a big success.
My cooking tragedies
Never have mastered the art of the perfect pie crust (no matter how easy the recipe). Also, do not have much practice or interest in baking yeast breads.

Cauliflower with Dijon Sauce
Thanks for a new favorite. This dish is simple and elegant. A winning combination for a weekday side. I used a package of broccoli and cauliflower florets, 3T mayo with 2T of country dijon with coarse seeds, and about 3/4 cup sharp cheddar. Liked the idea to broil until the cheese melts, and it turned out delicious.

Spring Pea Medley with Edible Bowl
This pea combination is exactly what I had in mind to accompany salmon for Valentine's Day dinner. The edible bowl is such a nice touch for the presentation. I will go with the fresh peas this spring, although I didn't want to wait, and it is delightful with frozen peas and fresh sugar snaps even before spring arrives. Thank you!

Kumquat Marmalade
Thanks, I loved not having to mess with pectin. The consistency was just right without it. This is the perfect way to use the kumquats from our little tree. It produces just enough to make a delicious batch. I reduced the water by two cups, as others suggested, and reduced the sugar by a cup.
