Beefy Baked Ziti

Reviewed: May 18, 2011
Excellent! very scalable too - I doubled it for a big pre-race pasta dinner. The only change I made was in the layering. I mixed the sauce and pasta together, layered in pay, then added the sour cream (so it could ooze together), THEN the provolone. For extra meatyness - I topped with 12 golf-ball size meatballs before baking. That was a little extreme...but enjoyed by everyone! (I used Classico Four cheese and Classico Sweet tomato & basil)

Ultimate Party Meatballs

I'm not sure I've ever made an easier appetizer. I doubled the recipe and dumped it all in the crockpot, I'm honestly not sure I ever even stirred it? Guests loved them and wanted the recipe. One note -I've used the store brand chili sauce before, and it tasted funny...make sure to use the Heinz brand.

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2008
AMAZING! I use this recipe everytime! After cooking, I shred the pork, drain most of the juice, put it back in the slow cooker, and add a bottle of my fav bbq sauce. (sometimes I add more juice back in to keep it moist) This has been a HUGE hit at all my parties.

Tiramisu II

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2007
Maybe I'm jinxing myself, because I haven't tasted it yet (except for licking the spoons). But this is by far the best looking tiramisu, and best constructed one I've ever done. I chilled my mixing bowl before whipping the cream, and it has held up very nicely. I used coffee flavored rum (Brinley Gold if you can find it). Another trick I have used in multiple tiramisu recipes - is instead of cocoa or choco. shavings, I buy chocolate covered espresso beans, and grind up in my cuisinart. I layered on top of the whipped cream. It gives a nice subtle crunch with a chocolate/coffee flavor! (And still looks nice on top!)

Janet's Famous Banana Nut Bread

It was ok. There is so much sugar in this, the outside had a candy-coating shell. There are better banana bread recipes out there...

Cowboy Caviar

when I first read the recipe, I thought this was too simple to be impressive...but it was fantastic! I made it for a cinco de mayo party and people would not stop talking about it. (They ignored my flan and other way harder things to make!) I almost make a batch weekly over the summer - add grilled chicken or rice etc...for an entire meal. Don't go overboard on the cilantro, too much can kill it!

Coconut Pumpkin Nut Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2007
I didn't trust the recipe without eggs, so I added 2. Didn't have coconut milk, substituted evaporated milk (I was using up stuff in my cabinet) and made these as muffins. Right now (20min out of the oven) I don't think they are sweet enough. Cream Cheese icing may improve them.

Little Mickey's Favorite Cheesecake

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
I've made this recipe twice...and I always think there is too much butter in the crust. I use chocolate graham crackers, and about 1/2 the butter. I bake for about 10minutes to set, while I prepare the batter. I like to melt additional chocolate and cover the top, then I line the edges with quartered reeses pb cups. The result is a giant reeses peanut butter cup. Just took it to a Super Bowl party and people were tackling each other to get a slice!

My family has been making a recipe like this for years - but has always used Gazebo Room Greek Salad Dressing (available on the east coast or online). It is always a hit!

Blueberry Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

I used egg beaters, fake sugar, fat free cream cheese, and apple sauce in place of the oil. Even with those 'diet' options, this was still an incredible cake.

Brownie Caramel Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2001
I love this! I reviewed this 5 years ago...it was the first cheesecake I ever made (adventerous!). I used to be able to find the 9oz brownie mix (jiffy brand) but no more. The probably discontinued it, considering the brownie mix was not that good - outside of this recipe! Anyway...I had to use the large size brownie this time...and am mid-way through baking it. Nervous that I've over baked the brownie part, ugh. The last time I made this - I just used caramel topping...it was too thin! While transportin the entire cheesecake layer almost slid off the brownie part! Use real caramels with the condensed milk - it's worth it!

Chocolate Babka

I brought this into work and it was gone in seconds. The cinamon flavor really makes this outstanding. Be careful not to burn the edges.
