Slow Cooker Oats

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2011
I made these to take to work. Everyone loved them! I filled my crock pot, turned it on and went to bed. It was great to wake to a house smelling like apple pie. These had good flavor. I'm going to make these again next week for our breakfast at work. We're thinking we might try them with blueberries or maybe strawberries instead of apple.

Garlic and Parmesan Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2012
Yummy!Yummy!Yummy! These turned out really good and they're easy to make. I watched the video on how to make these from the home page of AR and decided I needed to try them. I even took the ends that I had trimmed off, pushed them together, added a little cheese & garlic to them and got one extra roll out of the batch. I hate to waste things.

Good Dog Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2011
Very easy to make, but I think the amount of oil used may be too much - it was awfully "oily" or "greasy" feeling. Also, the beef bouillon cubes adds an awful lot of salt to them. I also think they should have baked longer as they really aren't very crispy like a dog treat usually is. They did smell great while baking, though, and my dogs love them. I just think I'll probably stick with the pumpkin & peanut butter treats I normally make for them as they seem healthier to me.

Slow Cooker Dump and Go Cheesy Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
I wasn't sure what my family would think of this - it seems so simple. But - Wow! Everyone loved it! I had thrown this in the crockpot so we would have dinner quickly, and I threw some quartered potatoes in the bottom of the slow cooker. When I got home all I did was steam some broccoli and dinner was ready. It was such a hit that my husband was talking about it at work and all the ladies requested the recipe. A very nice, quick and easy dinner!

Oysters Rockefeller

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
We made these with fresh oysters from Chincoteague Island. Loved them! They were a little time-consuming, but worth it! I used a bigger than normal dash of hot sauce, but that's because I really like it.

Twinkie® Tiramisu

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2010
It doesn't get any easier or better than this! Definitely a keeper! The marscapone mixture is delicious. I recommend buying a BIG box of twinkies so you have extras to munch on.

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake VII

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
I made this to take to a friend's house for dessert. It was a HUGE hit! I had never made a pineapple upside down cake before, but you can bet I'll be making more of them. I poured some coconut rum over the pineapple slices and let soak a while, then I used the rum/pineapple juice as most of my liquid for the cake; using about 1/4 c. water only. This cake was moist yet fluffy and the brown sugar made a nice crunchy topping. I was a little nervous about getting the cake out of my iron skillet, but it popped right out.

Slow Cooker Lentil Rice Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2010
As is, this recipe is worth about a star and a half. When I got home from work I had to really do some "tweaking" to get this to be edible. I took the advice of another reviewer and added cumin, red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, and I increased the amount of salt, pepper and garlic powder. I also found (like every other reviewer)that WAAYYY more liquid is needed. I had used only half the amounts of lentils (which I soaked overnight) and half the rice, but the full amount of water and broth. When I got home I added an additional 3 cups chicken broth to the crock pot. With all my additions it does have a nice flavor. I might make it again, but only using my changes.

Slow Cooker Cilantro Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2012
Another 5 star winner! When I walked in the door the smell of this coming from my crockpot was heaven! I can't even imagine how my dogs could stand this all day simmering above their noses on the counter top! As I was putting this together in the crockpot I discovered that my salsa was actually black bean and corn salsa, so I threw that in there and moved on. Wow! I will make this again but will always use the black bean and corn salsa - it added some great flavor to this dish.

Waikiki-Style Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2011
This sauce is delicious! I made it exactly as is. However, I did not put it on meatballs - I baked boneless/skinless chicken breasts with this sauce poured on top of them. After reading a blog of another fellow "AR Peep" who had made this and commented it would go well on just about anything, I knew I had to try it. I believe next time I make this I will have pheasant. Hubby said pork would be great as well. Thanks for a great sauce!

Slow Cooker Barbecue Goose Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
One word - WOW!!! My husband and son are avid waterfowl hunters so I have plenty of goose in my freezer. This is fantastic! I bought a bottle of raspberry chipotle sauce and it goes great with this instead of bbq sauce. Definitely a new favorite at our house.

Butternut Squash and Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
Different. I enjoyed it - my husband did not. I followed the recipe just as is. Next time I think I'll use more spices - it seemed just a tad bland.

Grilled Lamb Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2010
These were really good! I did make one change, though not a huge one. Instead of using dried oregano, I used fresh since mine is growing so fast in my garden. I served with mango chutney and cream cheese, with sliced red onion - fabulous! My husband and son both loved them and said I can make them anytime.

Easy Cabbage Roll Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2013
A 4-star as written. I added more tomato sauce (about 1/4 cup)and about 1/4 cup more water to it so it would not be too dry. I also added some basil and oregano to the mixture as it seemed like it would be sort of bland. This was very good and we enjoyed it. We will make it again. Went great with mashed potatoes and a bottle of cabernet franc!

Turkey Cream Cheese Enchiladas

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2011
We had a huge turkey dinner on Saturday and had plenty of left-over turkey. So, I searched this site and found this recipe. Yummy! It then ended up I babysat our Mexican friend's 3 children. So the 8 year old wanted to help me cook dinner. This recipe does take some work so it was nice to have the extra hands for stirring, etc. She also taught me how to roll a "mean" enchilada in no time!! I didn't have yellow or orange peppers but it was still awesome. We will eat these again. We topped them with more sour cream and salsa. I did not heat the tortillas in oil, we just popped them in the microwave for a minute to save time. All I can say is everyone loved these - delicious!

Old-Fashioned Pink Lemonade

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2011
My son is a huge pink lemonade fan, so I made this for him to try. He gave it 2 thumbs up! We didn't use quite 2 cups of sugar as he likes his less sweet. Sure hits the spot!

Italian Wedding Cake Martini

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
This was pretty good. We thought the pineapple juice was just a bit overpowering, but it didn't stop us from having 2 each! The second one was fantastic - we dropped a maraschino cherry into the glass with a tiny bit of the juice. We'll be having these again, wedding or no wedding!

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2010
I made this to take with us on a camping trip this weekend. It is delicious! I had never used Hawaiian sea salt before and I believe that is what makes this so good. I only used a 4 lb. roast as there are only 3 people eating it. I still used a tablespoon of the liquid smoke and I used almost 1-1/2 tablespoons of sea salt and it has wonderful flavor! My husband had me make our usual garlic hot sauce we have at our pig roasts, but I don't think I'll be putting any on mine!

Outrageous Lemon Berry Trifle

Very good! The lemon pudding gives this a very light lemony flavor that makes this such a light dessert. It was enjoyed by everyone.

Tender Pheasants

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2012
I always have pheasant in my freezer it seems and I'm always looking for new ways to prepare it. This recipe caught my eye and am I ever glad I made this! The pheasant was so tender and moist it fell right off the bones. I made mashed potatoes to go with it and used the sauce as a gravy. It had great taste. We will make this again.
