Buckeye Bash 2014

Buckeye Bash 2014 plans are underway!  Mark your calendars for July 12th.  Everyone is invited; it’s time to catch up with old friends and make new friends, too.  This year’s Bash is going to be at Mi Rancho Mexican Restaurant, 4914 S. Prospect St., Ravenna, OH 44266.  Phone:  (330)297-5250.  Ravenna is located in Portage County which is in Northeast Ohio between Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown.

The plan is to begin gathering at noon for margaritas or whatever and get to know each other or re-new friendships.  We will have the party room for our use exclusively and if weather permits, we can move out to the patio.  The menu, of course, is mostly Mexican fare but there are also some American fare choices that are quite good as well (things like fried shrimp, wings, burgers...).  Many choices are not hot or spicy.   Servers will start taking orders at 1:30 or so; with everyone ordering their food and being responsible for their own checks.  We can stay as long as we like so there will be plenty of time for visiting with everyone.  There is also a delicious homemade ice cream shop on premises so dessert is right at our fingertips!

I hope to see as many AllRecipes people as possible!  Spouses/significant others are more than welcome, too.  When I attended my first Bash, my husband had as much fun as I did!

Please RSVP and get more information, if needed, by e-mailing me at nyenulonis@aol.com and be sure to put “Buckeye Bash” in the subject line so I know to open your e-mail.

It’s going to be a real Fiesta!!  Can’t wait to see you there!  Mother Ann aka Nancy

Feb. 13, 2014 12:10 pm
Sure do hope to be there, Mother Ann. Things are rather unsorted but I am hoping to get it straightened away. I'll mark the dates on our calendar.
Feb. 13, 2014 1:53 pm
Midwestchef - so glad you're going to make it!! :) We can do the winery Friday night and even plan on dinner there if everyone wants. They have paninis, etc.
Feb. 13, 2014 1:53 pm
belle - I'm excited - can't wait!
Feb. 13, 2014 1:54 pm
Oh Mike - you need to get things sorted out and get here to Ohio! Keep me posted; I'm writing you and Mrs. Harvey down as coming. :)
Feb. 14, 2014 7:04 am
I VOTE for paninis! :)
Feb. 14, 2014 1:20 pm
belle - is your vote still on if I clarify - the winery makes some pretty good Panini sandwiches, it is not a paninis restaurant? :) They have good wine, too - both some sweet and some dry... usually make a sangria and they have a couple ciders as well.
Feb. 14, 2014 2:10 pm
LOL, I meant we'd like to go to the winery with the good sandwiches. I think you mentioned it in one of your emails. So when you said paninis, I assumed it was the winery with the good sandwiches. Yes?
Feb. 14, 2014 7:21 pm
Yes!! Just wanted to make sure nobody thought the winery had a paninis restaurant in it. LOL then it's a deal - winery on Friday and dinner there! :)
Feb. 22, 2014 12:31 pm
Count us in for the winery on Friday nite, too!
Feb. 22, 2014 3:03 pm
You bet! Can't wait for July!
Apr. 16, 2014 9:55 am
Hi Mother Ann! I don't know if we can make it in July but we will be in Ohio on/around April 22-25th. I hope to find your restaurant and meet you. Your round-up sounds like it would be very enjoyable!

About Me
I've been married for 33 years, and live in Ohio. We have a daughter who is married and lives nearby. Our son graduated from college and moved to South Dakota. He has his own place but still goes to visit my sister and brother-in-law and have dinner with them occasionally. We have two black labs that get to go duck hunting with dad and two cats. We own a Mexican restaurant and are learning alot about the food industry. I love to eat, go camping, read, spend time with family and friends, watch movies, and drink wine; not necessarily in that order.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake - anything chocolate is fine with me. Seafood, chicken dishes and slow-cooker fare.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I enjoy cooking together with wine. We pop open a bottle of wine and get cooking. :-)
My cooking triumphs
Whenever I can put together a meal that gets many compliments and leaves the diners satisfied is a triumph in my book! I love to cook meals for family and friends.
My cooking tragedies
When I was first married we had my grandparent's-in-law over for a pot roast dinner. The meat came out great, but the potatoes and carrots were still half raw. My husband's grandfather went to cut his fork into a carrot and it flew off his plate. He looked at me, winked, and said he loved his carrots that way!
