Sometimes simple dinners are the best!

Tonight is my last night of summer vacation! I have to go back to work tomorrow - back to the grind - back to our "caught on fire" high school. Two days before school let out in June the school I work in caught fire in the gym. Only that part of the
building was damaged, but it was severe. School is planned to begin on time on August 24th, there are quite a few temporary modular units being moved in for the classrooms and cafeteria that are off-limits until they are repaired and re-built. But, I work
in the Guidance Office and tomorrow is our first day back. We have a new principal this year, too. I think it's going to be a very "topsy-turvy" beginning and I can only hope that things move smoothly the rest of the year.
My 21-year-old son will be home from college until August 22, and then we really get back to "normal" (whatever that is!) once he moves back to his dorm. Hubby is going out of town tomorrow for work for the entire week. I had originally planned to make a
real, home-cooked Sunday dinner. Then, my son left to go to the new girlfriend's house (at least we think she's moving into that position, and that thrills both me and hubby - she's not only beautiful, but very down-to-earth and sweet). So, we decide to
just have a simple, summer supper. Grilled burgers, fresh local corn-on-the-cob, tomato-cuke-basil-mozzarella salad, cantaloupe, and Labrador Lagers (a great tasting brew made at Great Lakes Brewing Company, a local brewery). We love that beer - though I
have to confess, I think I mainly love it because we have 2 labs and I love the label and name!
We picked a ton of blackberries off of our bushes this afternoon and I had planned on making a cobbler. But - that'll have to wait for another day. I'm stuffed. I plan to sit on the couch, play on the computer, and gear up to go back to school tomorrow!
