As of 3:00 pm I am officially on Spring Break! Hurray! And, I don't have to cook tonight - we're heading to a friend's house for pizza night. What a way to start a break - no cooking and fun company. I have been friends with Al since we were 16, that's for 32 years!! In a previous blog I wrote about meeting my husband at a small amusement park we both worked at. Al worked there, too. He was the "dodge 'em" car operator. We became great friends and have remained so through the years. Al's been married for 7 years and the four of us are best friends. We have taken overnight trips together, and even went on a 5 night vacation together.
I don't know what I'll do tomorrow, but as I've written about in my last blog - Sunday is planned to be spent at the ballpark! I won't cook that day either - we always take my parents with us to the game - no way would Grandpa miss his grandson pitching! Then, after the game we go out to eat - my son goes, too.
My daughter is also on Spring Break, so we have planned to do something fun together at least one day. And, of course, Easter Sunday I make the family dinner.
My husband and I love wine. We aren't experts by any means - we don't follow any formal rules about what kind of wine to drink with certain foods. We drink what we like when we like. :-) Whenever we travel we try to stop at wineries that are in the area. It is fun to go and taste the wines at the winery where the wine is made, then buy some to drink at home later. So - since our supply at home is dwindling - we are planning a day to go visit some of our nearby wineries to stock up. We always take a trip to Viriginia in the summer and that's when we really stock up. We go camping near where the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Skyline Drive come together and go winery-hopping. There are tons of wineries in that area, and we seem to like all of them!
Other than baseball, wine, and "bonding" time with my daughter I have no other plans for my week off. I know I'll do some baking and experimenting with new recipes for dinner but that's about it. Then, after I get back to work I'm going to schedule my Suzy's surgery for her leg.
I know I'll have some more time to spend on AR this next week. All in all, I'm looking forward to a nice, relaxing break.
