Back in the day when my kids were very small, a man at work brought the cutest elf in to show everyone. His wife was very crafty and was making these elves for Christmas.  I had to have one - I knew my kids would love it!  So I placed my order and couldn't wait the 2 weeks he said it would… MORE

Last week was Easter and I host Easter Dinner at my house.  The star of the dinner table is always a glazed, spiral sliced ham.  Scalloped potatoes made with the help of hubby also always grace the table.  This was the first holiday celebrated with my son, Steve, not present.  For those who… MORE

Being with those you love is the best way to end one year and begin another in my opinion.  The Christmas Holidays were spent in a marathon session of eating and laughing with my family members.  It all started on December 23rd.  My brother drove up to spend the holidays here so I… MORE

This was my third New Year's Eve spent on Chincoteague Island and it was truly a memorable one for several reasons.  The first being all the snow that fell and created havoc.  But, this year Chincoteague celebrated New Year's a little differently.  And, if they want my opinion - I loved it! … MORE

About three years ago we started a tradition of coming to our little paradise - Chincoteague Island - for the week after Christmas.  We rent an old Island house that was once owned by Miles Hancock, a local legend in the duck hunting, duck decoy carving circles.  My son and husband go duck… MORE

Christmas Holidays.  All the "hoopla" is over for this year.  My family does a lot of celebrating.  We start with lunch on the 24th.  That celebration is with my husband's side of the family.  He has one sister and a brother, both who are married, his dad and a niece and a… MORE

In an earlier blog I wrote about our Thanksgiving dinner and the awesome cranberry sauce we had, thanks to my sister in South Dakota.  Since that time I have received many requests for the recipe and it has shown up in other blogs and on the Buzz.  So, last night I typed up the recipe, named… MORE

My family is big on tradition.  We tend to celebrate our holidays in the same fashion year after year.  I know that for me, if we didn't do that, it just wouldn't be Christmas!  I've also come to realize that most of our traditions revolve around food.   The biggest tradition we have is all… MORE

About Me
I've been married for 32 years, and live in Ohio. We have a daughter who is married and lives nearby. Our son graduated from college and moved to South Dakota. He has his own place but still goes to visit my sister and brother-in-law and have dinner with them occasionally. We have a black lab that gets to go duck hunting with dad, 2 cats, 2 cockatiels. We own a Mexican restaurant and are learning alot about the food industry. I love to eat, go camping, read, spend time with family and friends, watch movies, and drink wine; not necessarily in that order.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake - anything chocolate is fine with me. Seafood, chicken dishes and slow-cooker fare.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I enjoy cooking together with wine. We pop open a bottle of wine and get cooking. :-)
My cooking triumphs
Whenever I can put together a meal that gets many compliments and leaves the diners satisfied is a triumph in my book! I love to cook meals for family and friends.
My cooking tragedies
When I was first married we had my grandparent's-in-law over for a pot roast dinner. The meat came out great, but the potatoes and carrots were still half raw. My husband's grandfather went to cut his fork into a carrot and it flew off his plate. He looked at me, winked, and said he loved his carrots that way!
