My kitchen is my domain. Sort of like the garage/shop is my husband's domain.  I don't go in there except to get the lawn mower or leaf blower out so I can do my chores.  Jon goes in my kitchen more than I go in his shop - I have food in my domain and I was taught how to share.  Jon will even… MORE

Every once in a while I end up making something that was totally unplanned and it turns out to be the most talked about food for a week.  Have you ever done that?  This time it happened all because I hate to toss food. Several weeks ago we stopped at a produce market on our way home from a… MORE

I've blogged a few times about my new toys recently - I got a Panini press, pizzelle maker, and a brand new stove. I even got a brand new car but didn't blog about that - I don't really consider that a toy.  Some might read my blogs and wonder - Does that woman's poor husband ever get… MORE

Friday was that "special" day in Northeast Ohio where kids have the day off from school, and school employees do, too - NEOEA Day.  It's a day for educators to attend special workshops or to just do something where they may possibly pick up some new, useful, knowledge for their classroom. … MORE

I had been anticipating this past weekend for a few weeks. Jon and I both had Friday off and we had plans to head to Michigan. Last Wednesday those plans were cancelled, or should I say post-poned, so we were left with the decision of whether or not to just go to work or find something else… MORE

Friday was an exciting day for me.  After work we were heading out to pick up my new tool for my kitchen!  Many of you may have known how my old range died on me about a month ago or so, but if you didn't hear the story I'll repeat it for you.  I was hungry for some of my Grandma's baked… MORE

I resolved to spend more time in my kitchen this year.  I have done that, somewhat.  But, for a few months now I've been pondering where I could go now in my kitchen.  I know my way around it pretty well and I wanted to go on a new journey. Have a new adventure.  I needed some spice in my… MORE

I'm not a real superstitious person, but you won't see me waiting for a black cat to cross my path either.  Friday morning I arrived at work, wondering just what would happen on this "unlucky" day - Friday the Thirteenth!  My day went pretty well - all day long.  Saturday went pretty well,… MORE

Can you remember what you were doing a year ago at this time?  I can with extreme clarity!  I would have been climbing out of my son's old bedroom window, Jon behind me, and our neighbor standing in the yard with a chainsaw.   We had just had a HUGE tree fall on our house, yard, and garage. … MORE

I never was much of a tequila fan.  I didn't even know it was a key ingredient to those yummy frozen concoctions I loved called margaritas.  Then - we became involved with a Mexican restaurant and suddenly I know it's what goes in a margarita.  And I know how to do a proper shot of tequila. … MORE

About Me
I've been married for 32 years, and live in Ohio. We have a daughter who is married and lives nearby. Our son graduated from college and moved to South Dakota. He has his own place but still goes to visit my sister and brother-in-law and have dinner with them occasionally. We have a black lab that gets to go duck hunting with dad, 2 cats, 2 cockatiels. We own a Mexican restaurant and are learning alot about the food industry. I love to eat, go camping, read, spend time with family and friends, watch movies, and drink wine; not necessarily in that order.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake - anything chocolate is fine with me. Seafood, chicken dishes and slow-cooker fare.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I enjoy cooking together with wine. We pop open a bottle of wine and get cooking. :-)
My cooking triumphs
Whenever I can put together a meal that gets many compliments and leaves the diners satisfied is a triumph in my book! I love to cook meals for family and friends.
My cooking tragedies
When I was first married we had my grandparent's-in-law over for a pot roast dinner. The meat came out great, but the potatoes and carrots were still half raw. My husband's grandfather went to cut his fork into a carrot and it flew off his plate. He looked at me, winked, and said he loved his carrots that way!
